i pick i. white. i give him the 10, i give daley a 9.5. daley is a better skater, but white is better in decision making, playmaking, and a better point shot.

Ian white 10
Trevor Daley 7

IMO Ian white will be either a PP specialist,. great offensive defencement... or will have a very short carrer. But I really believe in this kid.

This thread shows how immensely underrated Trevor Daley is by being compared to Ian White, and then actually be seen as the lesser one.

Trevor Daley has been one of our top defensive defenseman this season. A part of his game many thought to be his weakness, yet nothing seems to be standing furhter from the truth right now. He also is one of our top shutdown defensemen on the PK. He's already a legit number four defensemen and then his offense hasn't even begun to show. Outstanding skater and should round out nicely into a two way defenseman capable of about 30+ points a season, 40+ if he becomes the PP QB people expected him to be. He doesn't have many weaknesses.. A #2/#3 defenseman is what the future probably holds for Daley.

both are good Daley has been solid this year while White has been ok not great in the AHL with the Marlies. He has performed well with the Leafs however.

As much as i like White and although he has been playing good in his shrt stint in the NHL he has a long way to go to be comparable to someone who is a good NHL d-man.

No comparison-Daley is a 3/4 on a 100 point team-White is stuck in the AHL. Daley was stars best defenseman last night BTW

Yeah, White has looked great in his Toronto debut. Still, I don't think he has done anything to get put ahead of Daley. My only beef with Daley is that I'm not sure the offense will ever come. However, Daley is still a good defensemen if he puts up 25 points or 40 points. If White cracks the NHL fulltime next season and puts up 30-40 points and plays smart, then I'd put him ahead of Daley.

White has averaged 19 minutes a game with Toronto with four points in four games, and the Leafs are 3-0-1 with him in the lineup. And, he has never been arrested!

Daley improvement on the defensive end is enormous. He is now a top PK and even played the middle when the stars were shorthanded on a 5 on 3. I know the stars would not trade him. he will be a mainstay for years.

Miets Daley and Jokinin-the product of the #29 system

White having played 4 games on a lottery team equals Daley playing in all games on one of the top contenders in the NHL, how?

Daley has been our top youngster this year, IMO ahead of Jokinen and Miettinen. He might not be a rookie, but he's younger than both.

The Leafs may not be in the playoffs but these were all big games against good teams.

Bottom line is that White has the offensive skills that Daley doesn't have while the rest of their game is probably equal.

You have got to be kidding me, White isn't close to Daley.

You must be joking. Before Mitchell came to Dallas, Daley was the 3rd best defenseman on a 100 point, division winning team. Both Daley and White have put up roughly the same offensive numbers in juniors/AHL. Daley was asked to focus on his supposed weakness, his defensive play, this season. He gets practically no PP time. His offense will come.

And Aki Berg was a top four defenceman on a division leading team before Bryan Leetch came in last season.

You like Daley, fine, but there is no reason for White to take a back seat to him. Just watch him play some time.

There's plenty of reason.....Daley is simply the better player.

Agreed this thread is funny. Daley by a landslide, apparantly he's far more underrated than I thought.

If he played for the leafs there would be a thread proclaiming him the next Larry Robinson or Carlo Coliacovo. :sarcasm:

This just confirms that it's useless argueing Leaf fans about their prospects..

There's a reason Daley has played in over 100 NHL games so far. White only has 4 and the defense he had to crack was a lot thinner than the ones we've seen in Dallas the past few seasons.

This is like saying Afinogenov is better than Lehtinen.
