There's a reason Daley has played in over 100 NHL games so far.
Right, Daley is older and started his pro career while White was still in juniors.

Uhhh yeah its Daley. Daley has played very well defensively this season which is actually surprising. I had him pegged as a powerplay specialist (he hasnt played all that much on the powerplay tho) and man was i wrong. He is solid positionally and if he does make a mistake, his speed gets him back in time. I think perhaps next year we'll see Tippett let Daley jump into the play alot more and start putting up good numbers. Probably numbers similar to what Sydor supplied for the stars.

:biglaugh: How is this even a debate? Ian White will be lucky to make the NHL, Daley is already a top-4 guy.
So is White.

On the Leafs he is....

Which leads me to wonder....why was Sean Brown signed in the off-season if he was going to play the whole year with the Marlies? Is he still injured?

You know, he's kinda right. White has been seeing the third most minutes on the team after Kaberle and McCabe....

Teams that are just playing out the string like Toronto, tend to play their rookies more....I guess it's sort of like a preview of what's to come to make the upset fans feel better. And White hasn't disappointed, that's for sure. He's better than Coli, but not as good as Daley has been with Dallas.

Yeah, you're right. Also, Daley doesn't have to displace studs like Wade Belak to crack the Dallas Stars. You have to take organizational depth into account, Ott=Snott.

Which isn't hard considering the huge drop off after those two. White wouldn't get a sniff of icetime in Dallas.

4 games in the NHL, with getting the 3rd most ice time on a team does in those 4 games not make a top 4 d-man.
This is frankly idiotic, but unfortunatly, not surprising.

It does when the team has been playing noticeably better with White in the top 4 than they were before he got there.

Also, Daley is only 7 months orso older if I'm not mistaken.
My response was in answer to the question of why Daley had more NHL games, that 7 month difference meant he was eligible to go to the AHL a year earlier.

You're basing your point about White being a top 4 NHL defenseman on the play of the team over a 4 game stretch. Maybe its just me, that seems just a little ridiculous.

Point is that he has over the whole stretch played well enough to be there and stay there, against good teams too.

Biggest factor is that Paul Maurice with the Marlies has done a great job preparing guys like White for the NHL.

A stretch of 4 good games on an average team at best makes one a top 4 defenseman and 'better' than a guy who has played in the top 4 of a 100 point division winning team all year long, not looking out of place? Come on man.

On the offensive side, White is easily superior. He has almost a third of Daley's points in those four games.

Being on a better team makes Daley's job easier doesn't it?

I don't see why we even bother.. Just enjoy White and his fringe NHL career!

I see. Once again basing things off statistics in FOUR games. You fail to understand that Daley isnt being asked to produce any offense.

Its alot harder to crack the Stars defense core than the Leafs, but Daley managed to do it at 21.

untrue its soo bloody hard to crack the leafs dline up, out of every team in the NHL i think its hardest for a youngster to crack the leafs line up until this year.
