Chiarelli's GM'ing would be a bannable thread on the "HF Rumours" board...
At the very least, he'd get an infraction for trolling.

RNH has developed just fine and Yakupov would have failed anywhere on account of the fact that he sucks.
I don't subscribe to the idea that those drafts weren't good enough though(See: Devils, New Jersey). The problem then was the same as the problem now, the Oilers aquired their top picks and surrounded them with nothing but complete garbage.
Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins spent years trying to keep the Oilers afloat pretty much single handedly. Of course it didn't work.
If someone proposed any of the big trades he has made during his career then the fans of either Boston or Edmonton would all easily say no and think he was a homer poster for another team.
Seguin for spare parts.
High draft picks for a failing prospect.
Hall for a defensive Dman.
Eberle for a 30 point player.
Yakupov's rookie season was and is so overrated. He scored 11 goals and 14 points in the last 14 games, the rest of his rookie season he was awful and should not even have been in the NHL. Outside of that one hot streak he has been nothing more then a borderline NHL player. It was a bad pick by Darryl Katz.Yakupov rode an inflated shooting percentage during a shortened season.
If you halve his shooting percentage. Yakupov still has 23 points in 48 games, which is still noticeably more productive than every other year of his career. Don't get me wrong, his lack of hockey IQ was always going to prevent him from becoming a superstar, but I don't think you understand just how harmful of a coach Dallas Eakins was. Yakupov would likely have been a productive second line offensive player with defensive warts or something, which is still a disappointment at 1st overall, but not nearly as bad as this husk of a player Eakins turned him into. This imbecile completely killed Yak's confidence, stifled his creativity, and forced him into a situation to fail by doing shit like telling him to stop playing the offensive style he's comfortable with and do dump and chase, playing him on the 3rd line with grinders to put Ales "I'm a massive team cancer" Hemsky of all people into the top 6 role Yakupov EARNED the year before, forcing him to play his awful swarm defense system, healthy scratching him over mistakes many young players like giveaways or blown coverage, and benching him for scoring a goal. Yes, you heard that right. Dallas Eakins actually BENCHED YAKUPOV FOR SCORING A GOAL and in the post-game interview he stated (paraphrasing) "I wanted Yakupov's last play of the game to be positive so he wont lose confidence for the next game". Like what the actual ****?Yakupov rode an inflated shooting percentage during a shortened season.
mcdavid is captain, he deserves some blame
I criticized Chiarelli's off-season plan and couldn't understand why he decided to make the roster worse in a year the Oilers were supposed to take the next step. While I certainly didn't think they wouldn't be this bad, there were signs before the season even started and now McDavid's ELC has been completely wasted and cap hell awaits this organization. There seems to be an mentality that the Oilers were a top end team, then a Cup winning GM came in and ruined it.
Big changes were needed in Edmonton, and Chia did that. A year ago the Oilers were a top team who should have been in the Conference Finals. At the start of this year, not a single one of Chia's critics said a word about how bad the team was. But now that it's been a rough year, everyone has a say.
Good franchises have stability. Screaming for yet another GM to be installed in Edmonton, and a new coach, just makes the franchise a bigger mess.
BTW, Tyler Seguin is in his 5th season with Dallas, and has only played in 7 playoff games. He has one goal.
