He essentially paid Detroit for Datsyuk's contract. Don't forget, he also sent a 2nd rounder to Detroit to move up 4 spots, which is basically the cost to move up in the draft at that stage of the 1st round.
He gave up a 2nd and a 3rd rounder for Lawson Crouse and David Bolland(contract) Crouse is overrated and not looking the best. Still time to turn it around.
His best move was the Raanta, Stepan deal. Everything else seems Alright, or worse.
He's an overrated GM. He might finally have his team on tract, but next season will tell.

I'm not an Arizona fan but this seems wrong. He traded a 2nd to move up to get the player he wanted in Chychrun who was one of the best rookies last year. He also got 7.5 in cap which helped them reach the floor and save his owner that much in actual cash.
If Crouse becomes even a 3rd liner who's extremely physical and can pot 15 with 30 points it's a good deal. Bolland helps save actual cash too so they aren't wasting the salary budget on useless players. He's still got a lot to prove but for a budget team he's made good moves to get in dead cap for cheap.
There's still time on Crouse, so scratch that one.
Even if you need the dead cap space because of how your team is, you should at least get an asset for taking on that dead space. He failed to with Datsyuk deal and he might have with the Bolland deal.
He got a tremendous return for Hanzal, but I think a lot of that has to do with Fletcher being dumb.
He's made some good moves, but he has to keep the trades coming where it appears the team is moving forward to compete.
McPhee's just an awkward unlikeable guy, from the outside. Plus his playoff record in WSH was suspect.
You mean the Washington Capitals that just made the finals
It's a Mcphee built team vs McPhee built team
