Imagine this team with Hiller or Pavelec as the main guy right now... We would probably be a lottery team.

Without question.

A lot of the defense is going on reputation at this point. The reality is that only three every day defenseman had good seasons.

A lot of inconsistency from our forwards.

The numbers hide the fact that this group tends to very streaky --- scoring a lot of points in spurts and disappearing for long stretches.

This is still a team that can go either way in the playoffs, depending on which version shows up. I can easily see this team making a run, or bowing out in the first round after 6 games.

I have no idea why he's playing tonight or why he was in against Buffalo. Aren't we supposed to make sure that he's rested and ready for the playoffs?

The goal before the season was to have him play 60-65 games, so he's fine for the playoffs. He's at 63 tonight. Right on target.

That would require us to clinch and 100% be in the playoffs. Since we haven't done that yet...

Why the Capitals would want to face NYR and NYI

Long story short, the NYR has a defense ranked at 24th (11.3 high danger scoring chances/ 60) and the possession game is ranked 22nd.

Just how much do some posters think a franchise goalie should be able to keep a sinking ship afloat?

Thats why our fan base is out to lunch. .920SV% on a horrible defensive team, and he has had a bad year. Put things in context. He put up his career average on one of if not the worst defensive squad in front of him. Without him this team wouldnt have had a shot at the playoffs this season.

Lundqvist leads all goalies in points this season with 4. Has more assists than Tanner Glass.

Get him more involved with the Power Play :naughty:

Well deserved MVP, as he truly is our most valuable player by a landslide - but I am sort hoping we won't be as dependent on him going forward because I personally think he's starting a very moderate and slow decline. I know his stat line is regular Hank and that his advanced stats are even more ridiculous but he isn't as steady as I remember him. Feels like AV has yanked him 10 times this year.

I just doubt we can take for granted that he will bail this team out every single year. It's a sign of weakness that we are still so dependent on the guy.

I think he's been pulled 8 times.

No. of times Lundqvist started and no. of times he started with the percentage of games he was pulled.

Never more than 7% but this season 12.5%

2005-06: 2 (49 started) = 4.08%
2006-07: 4 (69 started) = 5.79%
2007-08: 3 (72 started) = 4.16%
2008-09: 3 (70 started) = 4.28%
2009-10: 5 (72 started) = 6.95%
2010-11: 3 (67 started) = 4.48%
2011-12: 1 (62 started) = 1.61%
2012-13: 1 (43 started) = 2.32%
2013-14: 3 (62 started) = 4.39%
2014-15: 2 (46 started) = 4.35%
2015-16: 8 (64 started) = 12.5%

Lundqvist has been pulled a career-high 8 times this season. 2009-2010 is his 2nd worst with 5 times.

Do goalies ever get pulled because of their own play, or often, seems usually the team in front of them is having such an awful game it's like the coach is just doing the humane thing, or hoping his skater will somehow pull their heads out of their ...
