i wouldn't mind boucher if he's willing to tweak that 1-3-1 thing. i mean the game where pronger just stood still and watched was pretty brutal

Was effective though, when the other team refuses to break out you know you're in their heads. But too much is being made of the 1-3-1 as they also used a 1-2-2 effectively as well. Boucher has been my guy from the beginning but I've all but given up hope that they will actually hire him.

He's my top choice, so this excites me. I still think AV is Sather's guy, but boy do I want Lindy.

I think you're like the only person actually advocating Ruff, which is ok maybe the unpopular decision is the right one. I just don't agree, think he should have accomplished more than he did over the last 97 years he coached Buffalo.

However, if anyone is "Sather's guy" it's Ruff.

Technically Sather can retain the GM title and promote someone to President or Senior VP of Hockey Operations. Sather retains his precious titles of President and General Manager. The new coach will be here for next 3-4 years at least. Renney and Torts got 3-4 years plus. Is Sather going to be in charge in 2017? The next person in charge of the hockey operation should have input in the selection of the new coach. The last thing you want is another coaching change in the next 12-24 months with a new boss wanting his own coach. Slats will be 70.

Do you know for sure that Slats won't hire Mess?

Im not a huge Ruff supporter either and he isnt at the very top of my list, but I dont think i'd be completely upset if he was hired.

I kinda feel like hes one of those guys that need a change of scenery and with all of his coaching experience it wouldnt necessarily be a terrible fit, especially since he knows the franchise and its history.

While I realize the desire for a new face, I also wonder if some people aren't getting too enamored with someone who hasn't coached yet in the NHL similarly to how some people get attached to prospects who haven't quite shown anything in the NHL yet.

The trend seems to be retreads winning cups. Im a huge Lindy Ruff fan, I was sad to see him go. If you guys get him you will be very happy with him.

I want to point something out...

Like I showed before, NYR have never been in the top 10 of the league in goals for since the lockout in 05-06.

The Sabres under Ruff since the lockout have never been below 13th in leaguewide goals for from 05-06 to 11-12.

If there is something Lindy knows how to do, and do well, it's getting the most out of his top forwards. Briere, Drury, Vanek, Pominville, Afinogenov, Stafford (until recently), Connolly even, and many more I'm sure I'm forgetting. All these guys at one point or another were very good players under Ruff. And look at that list of names? All different playstyles from Drury to Afinogenov, and Ruff made them play and play well.

Ruff has been in the game a long time, and is a very intelligent hockey mind. I think we would be lucky to have him.

Either you worded this wrong, or I am severely confused. Their placement based on GF starting this year and going back to 05-06; 12th, 13th, 14th, 20th, 25th, 23rd, 16th, 11th.

Edit: You worded it wrong.

do not want Boucher. Do not want AV, do not want Ruff

I want some new blood behind the bench for the Rangers. Someone that understands today's players, how to reach them to bring the most out of them.

I want someone that is going to be creative offensively while being very respectful defensively.

Someone that is going to make the game enjoyable where guys do not come to the rink worrying about what is going to happen should they make a mistake.

The old guys that have been around for ever, I want nothing to do with those guys.

Fact. The guy gets good use out of the players he has and he has a good track record of grooming young players.

Most of these Buffalo teams scored about 3 goals per game, a number we haven't touched since Jagr was teeing off on everybody.

I remember the good Sabres teams post lockout. Small, fast, good on the power play. Briere, Drury, Roy. Small centers who scored a lot. Can Ruff get the same out of Stepan and Brassard?

Distorted facts. Unless you assume that he'd be the exact same coach in NYC as he was in Buffalo. Not exactly the same circumstance and organizations.
