Nice and definitely the right move and deal. Komi probably helped in the recruiting given that they go way back.

P.S. He brings a nice bit of subtle trivia for Monty Python fans.

Even if Murphy plays, you're looking at him and Faulk and either 4 forwards, or 1-2 of Harrison, Gleason, Sekara, Komisarek, Hainsey on the powerplay. IF Murphy is even ready.

Harrison is fine as the guy who closes his eyes and takes a slapshot.

I'm not nearly as worried about the PP as about the PK at this point. We need defense badly.

You'll see lots of 7 Dmen lineups with Murphy getting loads of PP time. Hainsey won't add much to the PP but will on the PK.

Wow! I'll eat crow on what I said earlier. Maybe Hainsey doesn't have the black mark? Or maybe PK had to get the okay from his buddies first? :naughty:

Nothing to complain about. Good contract and value. Didn't have to give anything up. If he's trash, at least he's our trash. Still some room left under the cap. Let's get on with this season! :handclap:

Ron Hainsey is an experienced, two-way defenseman.

He was very interested in joining our team this summer, and was patient as we waited for updated information about Joni Pitkanen’s injury

We are happy to be able to solidify our defense with a player of this caliber at this stage.

Sounds like the hold up with Hainsey was Pikanen's status all along...

Oh JR, you're fooling no one.

Hainsey makes this team better, I won't deny that. I just really don't like the lack of offensively capable defensemen. Hainsey, Gleason, Harrison, Komisarek, Faulk, Murphy, Bellemore and Sekara combined for 10 goals and 51 assists. Between 8 players.

As much as I agree with you, at this point, if they can keep a few more pucks out of the net, or alter zone time from tilting against us as badly as it has the past few seasons, it's a big win.

I also like the idea of using seven d-men. We did it most of 2005-06 as well. I like the flexibility.
