I think you're being very generous with Gilbert (60% at best as far as I'm conerned), and with Weise (a 15% gap betwen him and DD/Flash seems not grounded in reality). Either bump DD/Flash by 5%, or drop Weise by anything up to 10%.

I find Gilbert made the 3rd pair very steady. People only comment on him when he makes a mistake, not the 10 good plays he made.

Weise doesn't have the skill of DD and Fleisch, 40 points is pretty close to his ceiling. The other two are capable of more. He provides a net front presence and puck retrieval on the PP.

How can Desharnais be 45% and Fleischmann 70%? That makes no sense. Desharnais has 4 more points in less minutes per game...

...And makes DD look like a Selke nominate by comparison.
Not contesting that Weise was better overall (actually, not contesting that he wasn't as bad as DD/Flash in the last 5 weeks), but he was also like the 3rd player of that line before.

A couple questions, if a player was no better or no worse then what you expected, what percentage would they receive and what are your expectations of each player?

I don't know what other peoples expectations for Carr were before
this call-up. For me he has surpassed them by a large margin. And I
can't call it "puck-luck". To me he has looked effective most shifts.

So I'd give him the maximum grade. 100% would be fair.

Err...mid season grades but not about overall contribution to this point of time? How is it mid season grade when you are also grading what they could/will do in a full season? Or are you talking about what they are expected to do in a full season and where they are at now?

I took it as " degree to which they fulfilled expectation". But that
leaves the question of surpassing expectation.

I would say 70.

Not sure what you mean.

If Price was having an average year and Markov a great year, they could give the same overall contribution but one(Price) might get 80 and the other(Markov) could get 95.

Paul Byron will never out produce Pacioretty, but he could get a higher grade if he has a career year of 40-45 points and Pacioretty only has 50.

I think Habaddict has answered my question, assuming he is correct. If he's not correct then this grading system is confusing.

Ok. That's clearer. Thanks.

I'll downgrade Carr from 100 to about 98.

Goalies:

Price- 95%- as expected before he got hurt
Condon- 85%- expected very little from him and was pleasantly surprised
Tokarski- 65%- had a couple good games but, in all reality, not an NHL goalie
Scrivens- No Grade- haven't gotten to see enough of him, but don't expect much either, so...

Defense:

Subban- 75%- was good early, but has struggled lately with added pressures
Markov- 50%- has been terrible this year...fell off a cliff, it seems
Petry- 80%- has also been struggling a bit defensively, but has been our steadiest Dman
Emelin- 65%- only time he's been OK/good is in 3rd pairing duty...waste of cap space
Beaulieu- 85%- solid progress, further along than I expected from him, honestly
Gilbert- 50%- needs to be traded, waived, whatever...better options sitting right now
Pateryn- 70%- generally solid when he plays, needs more time to blossom
Barberio- No Grade - haven't seen enough yet
Tinordi- No Grade - haven't seen enough yet, more's the pity...

Forwards:

Pacioretty- 70%- Captain Invisible needs to step up in a big way...not impressed
Plekanec- 85%- has played well given he has to pull double duty
Gallagher- 95%- our Heart & Soul guy, missed him much more than I thought we would
Galchenyuk- 80%-good progression so far, especially without proper wingers
Eller- 70%- isn't a Scoring Winger; needs to be put back where he can contribute
Desharnais- 60%- hot start, back to being useless in the role...
Fleischmann- 70%- got more than I expected from him, but he's gone cold as well
Weise- 80%- gotten much more offense than expected from him, but he's still a 3rd/4th liner...Therrien has to remember that...
Mitchell- 85%-love his work on D and the offense is a bonus
Byron- 85%- expected nothing from him and he's been fantastic in the right role
Flynn- 75%- getting what was expected from him as a 4th liner...as long as he stays on the 4th line...
Smith-Pelly- 65%- needs to focus less on "being pissed off" and more on his role
Carr- 85%- again, expected nothing and he's been a pleasant surprise
Andrighetto- 75%- progressing a bit, needs to find consistency...coach doesn't help
Semin- 65%- wasn't given a fair shake here...that said, had little speed and shot wasn't anywhere near what it was a couple years ago

Coach:

Therrien- 0%- complete buffoon, shouldn't be allowed within 500 yards of the Bell Centre

I'm an extremely weird hockey watcher and I have weird opinions, so bare with me.

Goalies:

Price-95%
Condon-80%
Tokarski-60%
Scrivens-70%

Defense:

Subban-88%
Markov-74%
Petry-83%
Emelin-68%
Beaulieu-80%
Gilbert-72%
Pateryn-75%
Barberio-90% (Judge me all you want, he was supposedly just an AHL move and now he's playing in the NHL quite well. I probably overrate him but I absolutely love his game. *Also not a French bias here, I'm not from Quebec*)

Tinordi-65%

Forwards:

Pacioretty-80%
Plekanec-80%
Gallagher-95%
Galchenyuk-90% (Can't complain with what this kid has done this year with absolutely no offensive support/ice time)
Eller-75% (Expected more for Lars this year, I've been a supporter of his, but I'm afraid he's just not what he could have been 3 years ago. The "he's not a winger" excuse is getting old at this point honestly)

Desharnais-80% (Oh come on, he hasn't been that bad)
Fleischmann-75% (Has a lot better of a shot than I thought, but struggling recently)
Weise-No comment...
Mitchell-85% (Amazing start to the year, let's see if he can get back into that groove)
Byron-85% (Love his game)
Flynn-85% (Underrated)
Smith-Pelly-65% (He's been pretty bad this year. I've been a massive supporter of DSP even during the initial trade... But ouch)
Carr-90% (Can't complain with what this kid has done)
Andrighetto-75% (Not a huge fan of his honestly)

Coach MT : Early year Therrien up until Dec: 90%, Dec-Jan: 60%

I'll use letter grading.

Goalies:

Carey Price [A] -- Solid, as usual. Now if he could just get better. Shouldn't have been rushed back, in the first place, especially since we were first overall.

Mike Condon [B-] -- For the most part, he's done good. He's the perfect type of backup material.

Dustin Tokarski [C-] -- Teeters on the C mark. He's AHL level, but did have a few good games.

Ben Scrivens [N/A] -- So far, so good, but still needs more time for a full examination.

Forwards:

Max Pacioretty [C+] -- He's been disappointing, imo. Been way too invisible, even moreso than usual.
Tomas Plekanec [B-] -- On his regular pace and does what he does best.
Brendan Gallagher [A+] -- Has been the shining star/heart of the team for this year.
Lars Eller [C] -- Needs work; or maybe shifted back to third line center, which is where he excelled.
Alex Galchenyuk -- Doing well. Now if only Therrien would unleash him.
Alex Semin [F] -- Failure. Now gone.
Thomas Fleischmann [B-] -- For his role, he's done okay.
David Desharnais [C] -- His typical self. Has his ups and downs and is much better with less minutes, if only Therrien could follow through.
Dale Weise [B+] -- Had a hot start, but cooled off. That said, for his role, he's been great.
Brian Flynn [C+] -- Fine. Typical 4th line duty guy.
Torrey Mitchell -- Hot streak to startthe year. He's been good in his role.
Daniel Carr [B+] -- Surprisingly good in his role.
Paul Byron -- Excellent waiver wire pickup, PKer and 4th liner.
Sven Andrighetto [C+] -- He's been okay, a little inconsistent. Needs to be played more by Therrien.

Defense:

PK Subban [C+] -- He's been very underwhelming this year. Not getting shots on net. Out of position and so on.
Andrei Markov [C+] -- A little above average, but you can see the decline taking place.
Jeff Petry [B-] -- Struggling often, but he's been fine in a #3-4 role.
Nathan Beaulieu -- For the most part, he's been really solid.
Tom Gilbert [D] -- Out of position a lot and just not good. At least he's been blocking a lot of shots... which isn't necessarily always a good thing.
Alex Emelin [D] -- If every game was against the Bruins, he'd get an A+. Alas, he hasn't been very good.
Greg Pateryn [B-] -- Given limited time, he's been solid, however.
Jarred Tinordi [N/A] -- Therrien needs to play him.

Coaching:

Michel Therrien [F] - Has been a disaster. Somebody -- anybody -- please fire him. Dear God.
