Now the end of the 1st period started to look quite decent, otherwise at the start of the game both teams seemed sleepwalking, many terrible mistakes, very slow game almost no offence. Also Latvia's first 2 PP looked terrible. Our 1st Line looks quite good also good chance from Lipsberg to get his 3rd goal in this WJC. Also very solid job from both goalies.
A bit of a dodgy first period. Decent PK though on the three Latvian powerplays. SVK looked stronger in the final 5 minutes. I thought they could have done more with that 3 on 1. Also the pass to Mraz where he would have had a long breakaway. I thought Tvrdon-Toman-Bubela was the best line of the first period for SVK. Also Matousek was working very hard.
That Pelss guy looks dangerous. Have to limit his chances.
First period played out exactly like I expected. Literally no offense, very even. Latvia is in this, just gotta keep playing like that, and bang home a goal or two
Gernat joins the rush (with Hindos&Daloga), Latvia caught for the second time in the period with their D pinching, SVK unable to convert on their second 3-on-1 of the period (third of the game).
Latvia had a favourable bounce off the boards, Simboch swung and missed, went right to the Latvian player 1-0 LAT. Unfortunate because SVK had been the far better team in the second period.
Can't say for this game, but against Sweden he was the best Latvian player. He looks like a good 7th round pick by Edmonton as of now. I think he'll get an ELC after this year.
Pelss has been very equal opportunity. He has been very dangerous to both Slovakia and Latvia, his decision have nearly ended in goals on both ends of the rink.
