.... ya, and just look at that evil smile on his face... you reckon he's massaging that players spleen with his pointy filed down razor sharp blade DB?.... Ha?...... cuz thats what I'm thinkin.

There's a t-shirt available online that says, "Guns Don't Kill People. Gordie Howe Kills People."

Which I find hard to believe, given how well he cleaned up ...

Gawd I'm addicted to this...

This Jack Adams trophy winner coached a 2nd-tier national team to within minutes of the greatest Olympic upset in hockey history, until Shea Weber notched the difference in the third period.

This is one of the greatest/most artistic/original hockey goaltender photographs I've ever seen (and I hadn't seen it before 2 minutes ago):

I'm rarely the sort who gets into any of the "best of" debates, but I don't mind saying in this thread that the most entertaining/acrobatic goaltender I have ever seen remains Roger Crozier.

Check this out:

Though Eddie Shack was also pretty entertaining . . . can just see him at the annual company picnic in the piggyback races. This shot is The Entertainer hitching a ride on the back of Seals' Gary Ehman.

A member of "The Kid Line" (the youthful 4th line with Adam Graves and some slacker center not worth mentioning) in Edmonton in 1990 in their last Stanley Cup championship postseason, left winger Martin Gelinas went on to impress in Vancouver with Linden as his linemate (and when the NHL ironman Trevor became injury prone suddenly, Gelinas said "He went from the Ironman to the Tin Man", one of the greatest hockey quotes I've ever witnessed live. Here he is a traitor and has become one of the Flames:

Yes indeed. His performances in 65 & during 66's Playoffs in particular one of the greatest goaltending exhibitions Ive ever seen. Ranks right up there with Sawchuk vs Hull & Chicago in the 67 Leafs-Blackawks Semi-Finals, Dryden in 71 & all that followed. No argument from me if you rank it "All Time Most Entertaining Acrobatic Goaltending Display" as it truly was absolutely amazing... and all due respect to Hasek who like Crozier at his peak there for a couple of years was every bit the Contortionist and who also at times like Hasek years later was a Master of the Unorthodox when he had to be.... never stopped fighting, never said die.

Two pictures of Terrible Ted I'd not seen before. I put them together here because of the contrast -- bruised-knuckles Ted and gentle-hands "Father Ted." Boy, what a player and born leader Lindsay was.

These are from 1954.

This 6'3 210 lbs. HHOFer was a Hart trophy winner and two-time Stanley Cup champion with Original-Six Era teams. He died at age 72 in the media lounge at Pacific Coliseum during the 1st intermission of a Vancouver Canucks game. The Canucks wore "BABE" on their jerseys for the remainder of the season in honour of him. In 1998, he was ranked number 96 on The Hockey News' list of the 100 Greatest Hockey Players. His six assists as a defenseman remains an unsurpassed NHL record.

VanIslander is right. This is a bit addictive and it's hard to stay away with so many great photos out there.

^^^ :thumbu: Wow. More fabulous photo's, all of them, superb..... No idea who the ancient Rosebud might be.... and ya, "lots of Brylcreme" in use in that action shot involving Bower, and the picture itself looks a bit "odd". Like its been re-touched. Johnny with the unnatural looking white hair, Hull & others... too much "sheen" in their hair to be natural. No problem as its a wonderful shot but me thinks "enhanced" somewhat, possibly damaged & restored or maybe just over-exposed a tad.... That one of the kid in the Nats sweater really jump off the screen. Gothic.... interesting angles on everything else. Beliveau vs Esposito on the draw, Orr on Lafleur etc.... Bengal Tiger, shot from Raleigh.... John Scott.... Very nicely done RGO. Thanks!

Zeidel-fight.jpg

March 7, 1968 – Larry Zeidel stick fight vs Eddie Shack. I’ve only read about it, a legendary and vicious encounter. First time I see photos of it. I wonder if the NHL would impose a lifetime ban today

s-l1600.jpg

1969/70 – Rare Michel Brière photo, this one from a different angle than previously posted in the thread

H00005_arb2581_OrrSpeer_web.jpg

May 16, 2011 – Finland winning its first World Championship title in 16 years.
The Finns celebrated like only they can. A not so sober goaltending coach for Finland, Pasi Nurminen (Ex-NHL'er) came crashing down the stairs from the airplane at arrival in Helsinki, dropping the World Championship trophy. I have seen this from other angles, but not this one
