Going into the offseason we wanted to set ourselves up in a position where instead of being an early playoff exit each year, we would be a consistently be a contender. We feel through our trades and drafting we have done that. On the backend we drafted a high end talent in Hughes in addition to acquiring to very different, but highly touted youngsters in Fleury and Fox. Up front we added a lot of depth through trades with Merkley, Bennett, Kuokkanen, Frederic, Gauthier and Roy all joining our organization. In addition to that we got one of our favourites, Denisenko, at 19th overall, and the superstar in the making in Svechnikov.

Our only goal not achieved this offseason was adding someone we view as a future 1C. We threw all we had at Tavares but unfortunately it wasn't enough. Hopefully with our 2019 1st or through another trade next offseason we can find our guy.

Announce the signing of David Perron to a 5.000/5 contract with a full no trade clause. David will be an excellent mentor to our younger players in these coming years happy to have him on board.

Have to come to terms with forward James van Riemsdyk on a 5-year deal worth $6.75m per year. A MNTC is also included.

With the additions of James, Mikael Granlund, and Mike Green we know we'll be back in the playoffs this season. We were 20-13-8 in the second half last year and what kept us from being even better was a lack of scoring up front. Now we've added two 60-plus points scoring forwards and a much-needed RHD in Green we think is still capable of putting up 30-40 points a season.
