Do other teams offer healthy options?

Because the last thing I would expect to see if I go out to a game of any team sport would be someone munching on a salad sitting next to me in the stands.

Just seems like the entirely wrong atmosphere.

Pretty certain they sell salads at Yankee Stadium along with lobster tails and steaks.

We need more fun promotions. Less hats and posters, more switchblades and blow darts.

I mentioned this earlier, but it would be great to have the team work with fans to have a "rowdy" section (or even sections) that really get into the game. I know section 328 tries to do that, and credit to them, but I think it's only marginally successful. Would be great to have a "Dog Pound" type of sections within the arena. The team could really promote it, in the ticket sales, give the people a few extra perks (maybe T-shirts, etc..).

I realize that until the on-ice product improves, it's tough to get that passionate, but I'm assuming (maybe incorrectly) that the team will get there in the near future.

Get with NCSU and a college section.

I think they genuinely struggle with the college dynamic here. They can’t really tap into the NCSU connection without being hugely off-putting to Carolina/Duke (maybe even WFU and ECU) fans.

The college night they’re trying this year looks like an attempt to appease all of them at once. We’ll see how it works for them, but tbh it’s a bit too political to ever work well.

Yeah, every university here hates the other university. This may be the case for every state but i'm unsure.

I'm just imaging people walking around the arena yelling go to hell carolina the entire time and doing wolf hands behind mike and shane and the UNC fans are asking NC State fans to wait until basketball season while the Duke fan trips the UNC fan while a ECU fan is sitting and watching in the corner

The being worried about upsetting Duke, ECU, UNC, etc... stuff just makes no sense to me. Other than people from those universities that are already Canes fans and/or have parents that have tickets (and those people are going to games either way), how many students from those schools make it to games? It's got to be a small amount. I just don't see how catering more to the university that you share the building with would be detrimental at all.

Want to keep the Duke kids happy because they’re going to be the ones with money buying season tickets when they get out :sarcasm:

Appalachian State says hello....yes, I'm that guy....seriously though, I thought that was a pretty big omission on the Canes part.

Agreed 100%. My son goes to ECU and he and his friends, especially when they come in for the weekends and over breaks, have availed themselves of the college promos....they get $15 tickets in the 300s.

IIRC Wake was also left out, which is even bigger from a geographic and market standpoint.

But that reaction is exactly why they shouldn’t meddle too much with the college stuff.

I think you'd get a reaction from some people no matter what you do or don't do. I doubt that reaction kept any App State grads or students from attending games, just allowed them to vent. It doesn't look like it affected NotOpie's fandom.

Maybe it just doesn't make economic sense to form a better relationship with NC State, but a savvy marketing person could easily play on that relationship and still allow for other colleges to not feel left out. The "don't want to upset other colleges" seems like a minor concern in terms of getting fans in the door. But what do I know.

Especially given that I went to a small liberal arts college in SW Virginia. :thumbu:

The point I was trying to make is that for very little additional investment they could have easily addes a Wake and an App St. hat. I wouldn't have had specific game for each school, I'd have done multiple "show your colors" games and had a limited supply of each hat at each game. You could have easily put people together with their college chums, so you'd end up with a WFU, NCSU, UNC, Duke, ECU, and ASU sections.

In the long run, I think you'd end up with more people at all those games.:D

I like the idea of a “show your colors” night.

BBA, some of what I’m saying here is a reflection of conversations with a Canes ticket exec who was basically at the point of giving up trying to recruit fans from Chapel Hill. The harder core elements of Tar Heel Nation associate the Canes with the Wolfpack, in a negative way. To the point of scoffing at the idea of ever being a “home” fan at PNC Arena. It’s a thing.

Rogers Arena has a place called Santé, which is as hipster-fad-diet as it sounds. Also has an Indian spot called Vij's. First thought was to look at Vancouver's offerings because it's got that reputation.

Also, Air Canada Centre doesn't seem too bad. They have a Freshii and a Shwarama spot that has a chickpea sandwich.

After re-reading this thread and thinking about what else would provide a tremendous fan experience suddenly a great idea that would be a game changer just dawned on me...
