I mean anyone that wasn't ready going in for it to be an up and down season with games that swing wildly up and down from one to the next was expecting far too much. This is what this season is going to look like, all season long.

This is what happens when you play this many young guys, or at least guys trying to prove they should be in the NHL. If you think this is bad just imagine if they burned it to the ground.

Atleast we didnt double down on the current team composition and end up with results like Calgary.

Saros hasn't really stolen a game for us to this point. Maybe Toronto you could argue but I think that was a good overall team performance in what was a close game. Saros played well in our other wins but our offense was also great in those games and we didn't need outstanding goaltending to win them.

I don't get why so many people seem to be down on this team. We're pretty much right on track for expectations of us being a bubble team. I'm actually more optimistic now than I was going into the season after watching us play. It looks to me like the ingredients of a good team are there and now we just need to finish putting them all together. Granted I don't think we are going to be a top contender, but being a playoff team with a chance to be a spoiler seems reasonable to me.

Saros has definitely kept us from getting blown out early in a couple of games, though. Maybe we were bad enough/playing good enough teams we still didn't bounce back to win those ones, but there could easily have been more games like the one where he wasn't enough to keep that from happening that night against Edmonton. Anyway, he's doing alright, and over the course of the season he'll probably end up being worth an extra 20-some points in the standings like he was last year, relative to an average goalie.

Every year. It cost him in Vezna conversation last season.
Every year… except one. 2 or 3 years ago it was remarked upon how he had a great start - unusually for him.

Actually this season is already like his 2nd-best ever. He has actually been pretty good. If he had one of his previously bad starts people would be jumping off bridges here. More people, more bridges. LOTS more regression!

Yup, was going to say not as slow as his norm so hopefully that means he's in Vezina form a month earlier.

I know it's a late start game tonight. Right? No GDT?
