They have a better record not even 20 games into the season, that doesn't mean they are the superior team. They have a better record than Pittsburgh too.
I refuse to believe that an expansion team is superior to the McDavid, Draisaitl and Talbot led Oilers for the sake of my sanity. Don't care what the records are, this is the type of game that the Oilers SHOULD win if they want to go anywhere but the toilet this season.
Okay lets look at these teams top to bottom
Line 1
Maroon - McDavid - Draisaitl
vs
Marchessault - Karlsson - Smith
Advantage: Oilers (not even close)
Line 2
Lucic - RNH - Puljujarvi
vs
Perron - Haula - Neal
Advantage: Tie (Nuge is the best player here but the wingers for Vegas are better)
Line 3
Khaira - Strome - Pakman
vs
Lindberg - Eakin - Tuch
Advantage: Golden Knights
Line 4
Malone - Letestu - Kassian
vs
Carrier - Bellemare - Nossek
Advantage: Golden Knights
Defense
Pair 1
Nurse - Larrsson
vs
Schmidt - Theodore
Advantage: Oilers
Pair 2
Klefbom - Benning
vs
McNabb - Engelland
Advantage: Golden Knights (If Klefbom had his brain this year it would be Oilers)
Pair 3
Russell - Auvitu
vs
Miller - Hunt
Advantage: Golden Knights
So really the Golden Knights have lesser top end players but their depth is much much better.
An expansion team has better depth players than an org year 12 into a rebuild.
