Honestly, outside of Ehrhoff signing a 1 yr deal in Pittsburgh (which is out of our control) and Stralman signing in TB, today has been a major success for us in my eyes.

Dan Cleary and Kyle Quincey will probably change your mind.

Frankly seeing Babcock leave halfway through the season wouldn't surprise me all that much.

Stalman to TBL for 4million a year for five years. I think he is solid, but we were better off saving the money for big-time player whenever that may be. Their D should be solid though Hedman Garrison/Carle Stralman Garrison/Carle Gudas/Brewer/Sustr

This is a good point. Players want to know what coach they're going to play for. If you want to play for Babcock, you're not sure he's going to stay. If you don't want to play for Babcock, you're not sure he's going to leave. The Wings can't win.

I can deal with missing out on the big free agent d-men, though I really wanted Ehrhoff. What I'm more worried about is Kenny panic-signing veteran garbage like Jovo or Salo. Mitchell or Morris might make sense.

Its a bummer we couldnt sign one decent piece, but staying put isnt completely terrible either. As long as Kenny doesnt blow it with a garbage signing (Quincey, Cleary, Jovo) or an overpayment im not really upset.
