Loving it too.
Just became the best defence in the league. Nashville is really the only other team in the same galaxy.

On paper, maybe. But let's wait until some games are played before making these kinds of claims.

don't start the best defense in the league garbage again. these statements just encourage opposition fans to mock us if things don't go as planned

On the one hand, at least they didn't give up any top prospects/roster players

On the other, they still overpaid ridiculously in picks. Hamonic isn't much better, if at all, than Stone.

Meh look at prices now. Getting players in the summer is always smart. We got 3 years of a good D man at a low price. Imagine if we traded a first for Ladd+ at the deadline or one of those awful trades.

I remember the last the Flames supposedly had the best defence on paper.. That did not work out so well.

Based on those conditions, no second round picks for three straight years. Maybe Treliving can move Stajan and Bouma at the deadline to get some late, late round picks.

The Flames twitter announced it as a 2018 2nd, but wouldn't that be going to the Yotes if we make the playoffs next season?

Well, the window is open now. I want Tre to sell the farm for Niederreiter now. All in or nothing.

Lmao I'm not Hamonic's biggest fan either but saying he's hardly better than Stone is a joke. He had a horrible season last season, but if he bounces back he's a good middle pairing D like he was every year other than last year. To me Stone is a bottom pairing guy who's going to get paid more than he should.

Since we appear to be all in let's try to sign Williams on July 1st.

I think it's 2nd in 2019 for Smith based on this trade. Because if we miss the playoffs in 2019, the Isles get that pick otherwise it's 2020

edit: yep, nailed it

Not sure I'm happy with the price after how he played this year.

Dougie trade all over again.

Let's make the conference finals so the pick is later (or the cup!)

Hamonic was dealing with a serious illness in his family and injuries. Last year needs to be taken with a grain of salt

~7.5M to re-sign Bennett, Ferland, Chiasson and Lazar
~1M bonus overages
~1.5M backup goalie

Would leave 7M to fill out the defence. They probably still re-sign Stone.
