I’ve been asking the same thing for years. They say it’s more authentic because the refs are making the decisions but they’re using tablets? It makes no sense.

Also it doesn't give a impartial view. The situation room won't feel pressured to overturn a call or make one. A ref may feel less inclined to undo his mistake or take the time needed to get the call right. Besides the situation room has multiple angles they can look at on giant screens. Seeing how the NHL still can't get mics to work for the refs, I doubt their tablets are any good.
