It's the smart way to do it when you will have more players that will fit on a 23 man roster, plus three months of free agency to add to the team.

They basically built their team based around picks/prospect & cap/salary flexibility. Most of the players they took on are signed within a year or two window even the cap dumps. Clarkson is three years but even then that's not going to be a problem.

Goalies can't be worth much so a 3rd or 4th might get us one of these guys who went unprotected.

I do think Holland would basically give away Mrazek at this point. He'd probably be happy to clear that $4M so he can go sign a UFA to a dumb contract.

i really hope not. would rather see what DET wants for Mrazek first.
