Friedman: Edmonton was close to a "big" trade on Wedneday involving a goalie.

On the most recent 32 thoughts Friedman brought it up.

He doesn't know if it was just delayed, fell through, or what, but he was told the Oilers were close to a big/significant move in goal.

As a hab fan thar clearly not Allen, so possibly Gibson from Anaheim ? With Dostal playing well that might be a possibility

Until Edmonton replaces their goalie coach it’s just shuffling deck chairs on the titanic. As a Canucks fan, Demko is good in his own right but Ian Clark is legit a goalie whisperer — the Oilers desperately need better support staff. The fact this dude has survived as long as he have is just evidence that failing upwards is a thing for some people

At this point I think this is a better option for the Oilers in goal instead of what they have…..

But who wouldnt want to go and play with McDavid?!?

Gibson or Binnington make the most sense. They should have gone all in on Helly in the offseason. But until they fix their defense AND the teams mindset on playing a 200 foot game, it wont make any difference.
Who have Edm been able to acquire over these past few seasons to fill a need because they had McDrai?

The season is pretty much lost now. They need a minimum of 95 pts to make the playoffs. They have 5 right now with 70 games left. They have to go 45-25 the rest of the way or play 0.650 hockey just to maybe sneak into a wildcard spot. They already lost 3 games to a divisional opponent (Vancouver) and the schedule the rest of November is absolutely brutal for the Oilers. October was the time to bank some points. For reference the Jets took the last spot in the west last season with a record of 46-33-3 (95 pts).

This is the Oilers schedule the rest of the month of November. No way in hell they are winning 75% of those games.

You pointed out it out unless you were being sarcastic about McDavid. Lol

Even if McDavid was playing like he did last year, Edmonton is not a goalie friendly place. Of course it doesn’t help when the goalies play terribly but a lot lays on the leaders of this team.

Putting up points seems to always be their main concerns. Keeping the puck out of the net isn’t on their minds nearly enough.
