Also, Ovie typically ups his game when playing other Russians. It works both ways.

They are both labeled as playoff chokers as well.

Apparently so is Panarin for some dumb reason.

I can't wait to see this Ovi/Panarin showdown though. This should be a really good series. And one in which we can start the series having rational conversations but we're probably going to hate each other in two weeks.

I suppose you can label Ovechkin a playoff choker but the reality doesn't back that up. His team chokes. On occasion he has failed to produce, but bad playoff performances from Ov are far from the trend.

This is one of the more intriguing series in my opinion. Both teams were extremely good in the 2nd half of the season. This year's Washington team reminds me a lot of the 2016 Sharks team. Slow start, strong second half and no one at all is talking about them.

Two hot teams, but the Caps are simply the better team roster and coaching wise. I'm expecting a monster postseason from Ovechkin this year. Caps in 6.

You shouldn't care. But since you asked. Both Backstrom and Kuznetsov had erratic and uncharacterist first 60 games. Holtby was awful. The last time he gave up less than 2 goals in a game was November 18th. They had 2 rookie defensemen struggling to establish an NHL game. Even with that they got the division lead. In the last 20 games both Backstrom and Kuznetsov came alive. Grubauer played Holtby like the second half of the season. The result was finishing the season 12-3.

Who knows about this series, I couldn't pick until I see a starter and the Caps lineup.

Ovechkin finished the season with 87 points, maybe it's a sign.

Want to echo what hockeykicker brought up. I thought it was odd too.

The Pitt-Philly series will start sooner and is scheduled to end one day sooner. Add the fact that there's a good chance Caps-BJ will go about a game longer, the winner of Pitt-Philly should be more rested. Nothing to see here, move along
