We do this every year. Regular season starts and everyone calls McDavid/Draisaitl best players in the world. Playoffs roll around and we'll all call MacKinnon the best player in the world again after he dominates another playoffs.

Honestly it feels like everyone on Colorado isn't even giving 100% right now, they looked at Tampa Bay and realized the regular season means jack and it's best to save your best hockey for the playoffs. It's not like there's a chance they're missing the playoffs.

So McDavid and Draisaitl are blowing him away statistically because he and the Avs are purposefully not trying?

That’s an interesting take.

lol the "they're not trying now because they're saving themselves for the playoffs" is such a shit argument

players definitely do care - their future paycheques and individual credibility is on the line

if anything, the only team that can say that would be Tampa Bay having Kuch sit for the year. the avs, like the oilers, haven't won jack shit

MacKinnon has never made it past the 2nd round in playoffs.

Gloating about how he's the best in the playoffs is akin to Caps fans gloating that OV is the best in playoffs prior to 2018. No one would take it seriously.

And they play in the North division? Didn't like 40% of Draisaitl's points come from games against Ottawa lmao? MacKinnon is starting to pick it up, that's 5 points in 2 games against Minnesota now.

That's like saying McDavid isn't the best player in the world because his team is trash? Why the double standard? MacKinnon is not the best in the playoffs because his team's never made it past the 2nd round? His stats since coming in the league has shown he's the most productive in the playoffs.

Bro I love Mack and call me homer I wouldn’t trade him for Drai but the latter has been outproducing him for three straight years. No matter which division. As I said the only argument right now is the playoffs even then it’s still hard to use it against Drai who hasn’t the same sample size as Mack but this isn’t a case where Draisaitl disappears in the playoffs. The division thing is getting overblown I would’ve understood if this was the first year Drai outproduced Mack but man it’s been 3 straight years.

Mackinnon is the best player in the world, if you don’t count winning any hardware. Or stats.

Is scoring against bad teams worse than not scoring against them?

MacKinnon has only managed 4 points in 6 games against Anaheim and Arizona.

Anaheim has Gibson and Arizona is ahead of Edmonton in goals against FYI. Say what you want about the Califronia teams, they don't have a lot of talent but they still play a solid defensive game. Ottawa literally just run and guns.
