Curious to hear which guys are on Pronman's "Do Not Draft List"

Waiting for the bureau in Buffalo to get up and running before becoming a subscriber to The Athletic

He has Merkley deeply in the first round. I’ve been pleased with my subscription. It would be nice to have quality Buffalo hockey recording added to the mix. But I find it worthwhile even without that.

And speaking of Pronman, did anyone catch his segment on GR this morning?

Any cliff notes on the pronman interview?

Most of it’s about Rasmus. I am seven minutes in and he hasn’t mentioned draft picks yet.

Edit - almost nothing at all about the draft. It was all about Dahlin and then the morning guys joking about not having to study up on the draft choices.

If Botterill truly wants to build around Dahlin/Eichel and get younger then I wanna see if he can get into the top 15. There’s a few teams this year with multiple first round picks.

Would be great, but not sure a McCabe+32 or Girgensons+32 gets you into the top 15

No point moving Nylander in a move like that right now IMO.

Not much else in terms of trade chips for us after that.

Regarding Pronman's "Do Not Draft" list... Jet Woo is on that. He likes him as a defense-first guy, but has concerns that there isn't enough offense to him. Others include Jack Drury (translation of scoring game), Nils Lunkqvist, and David Gustafsson. That isn't a finite list - he's got others in his concern list.

So we basicsllly have two first round picks the next two years. Don’t trade them away for roster players. Pick, develop, insert when ready on cheap contracts into the lineup to establish depth and long lasting success. You have to control the cap and not give out monster contracts to mediocre players. Young cost controlled players are essential on contending teams. It leads to continued deep playoff runs instead of one and done seasons.

What would you guys do if San Jose called and offered #21 overall for the 1st we acquired for Kane?

That might depend on who is there at pick 21. It may also depend on term and dollar for another year of Thornton - if Wilson thinks he can load up enough to place higher in the draft order next year, he might not make that offer.

I wonder if Crossman gets a little shift on scouting lists after the Q playoffs and potting a few in the MemCup. Might be someone with some late, late round love.

Dobson spearing Camaano after a late hit is not a good look. Thought he had a strong game, that mistake is about the only thing he did wrong tonight.

Love Brock's detail. I'm curious to see how Dudas does at the Combine on things like the Wingate.

I was like...Kyle Dubas is taking part in the Combine tests!?!!? Time for a drink....

I literally thought you were making up players by stealing first names and swapping out last names.
