How much we bet we gonna end up drafting #3.

It's basically a coin flip between on the one hand drafting #3 versus on the other hand drafting #1 or #2.

About 45% chance we draft #1 or #2 versus a 55% chance we draft #3 - assuming Betman doesn't rig it in favor of the big market American teams. So slight edge to #3.

So today is the day we can claim go Habs go in this thread ? ;)

As long as the Habs get one of Jiricek, Nemec, Wright I think fans should be happy so the lottery does not matter as much this year as it will next year.

Enough of this Betman rigging the draft nonsense......I suppose he must have a real interest in the great American metropolis of Edmonton, Alberta lol.

I am Betman!

There's an article online asking the question of whether the Habs would be interested in the Devils 1st round pick this year.

Devils manager said they would be willing to trade their 1st rounder for an impact player.

Article suggests trading Josh Anderson would do the trick.

Would you trade Anderson to NJ for say, 4th OA this draft?

End up with 2 of the following:
Wright
Cooley
Nemec
Jiricek

What do you guys think?

Whoever wrote this "article" should consider going back to writing about area 51 or flat earth nonsense because this take is devoid of rational thought.

Caufield is the player that would make the most sense due to the obvious Hughes/Caufield reuniting angle but even that doesn't make a ton of sense.

He has always been for me.

Cant see Savoie being drafted top 10, Kemell will go way ahead.
We'll just agree to disagree on this one. Re:Raymond sliding...

Savoie has the best track record of anyone not named Wright. And he didn't miss a year due to Covid, that was a character choice Wright could have done the same (I'm rewarding Savoie for this, he won't take kindly to "opposition by prudence" and that's quite a unique character trait).

Savoie is the best choice for a few teams very early (much like Cutter Gauthier could go early for others reasons). If you want the best PP specialist or fast forward he's your man. He's probably the best winger right now (Slaf is all about the ceiling in the future, Kemell might or might not adapt to the NHL - Savoie will - Lekki doesn't have that speed). Many teams could have that at the top of their list, and Seattle might be one of those teams - with what seems like a homerun pick with Beniers at C.

David Mayville was the Habs OHL scout who wanted Timmins to get lots of looks at Subban. Mayville and Timmins visited the family before the draft and Karl showed them his Habs shrine in the house full of Beliveau memorabilia. I remember Timmins saying PK gave the best interview he'd ever been a part of.
And he was generally considered to he a good teammate by people in the room. Lots of people outside don’t like hockey players to have personality or skin tone.

I always add about 5 spots for the non-white guys in the draft because chances are they got fewer chances and less power play time than they earned. It’s not Warren Moon to the CFL now, but there is a bias and players get seriously dumped on for mentioning it.

One thing more important than us winning 1st pick...Sens cannot win the lottery. I mean, that would just be too much.

Meh, they burned a top 10 pick last year and still don't have a goalie at all. I'm not going to be concerned about the Sens unless they fire Dorion or win Bedard.

Worst pick at 3rd will be Cooley and that's not so bad at all.

Hopefully we get Shane Wright.
Wright wears #51. Guy Lafleur was born in '51
May 10th draft lottery. Guy LaFleur wore #10

Its in the cards baby!!!!
I’m pretty sure that won’t be the take in 5 years. Some of the polarizing picks won’t be polarizing by then. If they don’t pick first they need to throw a wide net and see if one of the slightly lower picks is way more driven than the top guys.

If they want Anderson for 4OA I think you do it with no questions asked. Another good prospect and tank next year.

If they want Caufield it would take an overpay, multiple firsts and prospects. He’s young with good stats and low risk while the pick still has a good likelihood of busting.

Because we have a higher likliehood of getting the first overall than anyonelse thats why.

We have the best odds.

We have the best odds to win the 1st overall pick, but overall, our most likely outcome is picking 3rd overall.

So mathematically, you're betting on the wrong outcome.
