If it was someone else you could give them the benefit of the doubt, but not Gudas. Accidents don’t happen with him.
My friend thinks he might be suspended, if not just on reputation alone.

Why the hell did he leave his feet for?

That last minute (second to last minute really) goal with the Lovejoy assist reminded me of when Pete had Stephen Gionta out there for the final minute of regulation against the Red Wings a few years ago and he scored the game winner. And that one was in the final 40-something seconds I think.

We all hated that Gionta was out there, but it actually worked out, which is the same thing with Lovejoy tonight.

Even if you buy he didn’t see Palms, it just shows how extremely reckless and stupid he is because he obviously saw Simmonds and still cut hard towards him.

So either he is the goon we know he is, or he is the reckless idiot we know he is. Take your pick.

I feel like a lot of us were in disbelief over it. If you asked us before the game ''Which player do you think is gonna fight Gudas tonight?'' I don't think many people would have guessed Zajac. He might have been like 15th or 16th on the list of most likely players to fight Gudas tonight.
I know. That's what makes it all so great. Every Devils fan probably reacted the exact same way. "ZAJAC?!" And then he clocks him. Penalty and all aside, it was just great to see. Enough with the bull****.

I think it may have been the latter in this case. Or at least, that's what it was at first. I do think the turn for sure, and even potentially the desire to avoid Simmonds as his first thought, were meant as hockey plays. What his full intent was after that, I don't know.

If ever there was a time to call a player to task for taking liberties, that was it right there

Righteous brawl and tip of the hat to Travis for having a little talk with Goondas about it

Easily the best thing Travis has done all year, and that isn’t even meant to be an insult.

I want locker room leaders to do that 10 out of 10 times. I hope Marchand gets his the next time we see Boston too

Marchand is LOOOONG overdue for this.

Maybe Travis goes "You know what? I've got the hang of this 'goon it up' thing. Let me go "introduce" my fist to Marchand's rat face!"

I know a lot criticized the team for not doing something about Marchand but I think it's that 1) our guys probably never even caught it with it happening so fast, 2) the game was way beyond lost already even if they did, and most notably 3) the rat pulled a total chicken shit maneuver by going belly down on the ice and staying there long enough to feign innocence and not garner attention.

By the time they saw Marcus wilting on the ice it makes it hard to just up and wail on a guy that's still lying on the ice to dodge a call or his comeuppance

I agree though, at some point whether it's us or some other team, Marchand has many debts to pay

Don't you get suspended for a hit of you leave your feat anyway? Like.. Jumping there to try to avoid the hit, or prety much any hit is dangerous

lol people are really killing Zajac for taking an instigator on Goondas after he nearly KO'ed Palms for good on a dirty play? In the first period?! In what was one of the most rousing moments of the season? It'd be one thing if it was late third period like Nico the other night but come on now, sometimes you have to lose the battle to win the war. If the refs aren't gonna call what needs to be called we need to step up and protect ourselves, especially early in the game when there's time to make up for whatever happens.

Not to mention we really need to send a message to the rest of the league that you can’t keep running at our guys and not get some pay back. I didn’t give two s***s that the Flyers scored on the ensuing PP, completely worth it.

I know goals are up but holy we are averaging about 3 goals a game and that’s good for like 15th lol. In previous years wasn’t 3 goals a game usually good for like a slot somewhere inside the top 10 ?

Devils currently are 12th in goals. For your point, last season Jets averaged 3 goals per game and finished 7th overall in goals.
