One of these days our games in hand will come....in handy.

I swear!

I hate the games in hand talk. At most I consider games in hand to be worth one point cause that's .500 hockey but really they aren't looking to be worth squat for this team.

I absolutely HATE Greene as the captain. Him being awful this year is whatever but he’s got zero captain traits. Tough bounces? Tough bounces led to six goals? Have to get mentally tough and it will come? Gtfo with that. Show some fire, throw a water bottle, get kicked out of a game, something.
I think it's pointless to strip him of the C right now, but I also think it's something that you can consider in the offseason. Just naming a new, younger captain next year.

All in all, it's probably a nothing move, that has little effect.

Gross admits the “consideration” word was his word.

Lack is almost certainly starting tomorrow. They wouldn’t have left Keith in there to get shelled if that wasn’t the case.

Won’t mean anything if we don’t make some lineup changes.

Stafford on another one of his marathon streaks of little offense.

3 points in his last 13 games since coming back into the lineup and 3 points in his last 29 games overall.

If Hayes is coming in for anyone, it better be him.

Although I don't necessarily think Hayes should come in for him or for anybody. But Hynes seems to be drinking the DeBoer concoction of ''Win with dem vets tho!'', so I figure Stafford probably has another handful before he gets the scratch.

So in other words, he's putting words in Hynes' mouth. Nice.

anyway, what exactly DID Hynes say then?

Or perhaps Gross wasn't paying enough attention for him to actually include a word that may not have even been said by Hynes in the first place?

So yeah it was more or less Gross's 'fault', that Hynes used that word or responded to it.

I don’t think it even matters at this point, lineup changes, etc. There is just too much going wrong at once to fix. One night it’s the goaltending. Next night it’s the scoring. Another night they suffer 3 injuries to key players. Then they get boned on calls or have goals waived off. It’s always something.

Bottom line, they need to win at least 14 of the next 28 in what is an absolute gauntlet of a schedule. I literally see no path to that when you take everything into consideration. It’s not about being doom and gloom. But realistically, how the hell is this lineup going to pull that off without any outside help coming in? They have been living off that 9-2 start for months now and they’ve almost coughed it all up at this point. I’d like to say this was a bottom falling out type of game but you gotta work yourself back up afterwards. I don’t see the horses here to get that done.

We don’t want young players with lots of upside as replacements?

We should replace them with slugs instead?

I think his general point is that Mueller vs Moore or Santini vs Lovejoy isn't going to make a significant difference either way. And that we need actual top 4 defenders to push others into roles more suited for them. The left side is, quite frankly, a mess, and will be until we add at least one top 4 guy to it.

Really any less than the max three lineup changes (Lack, Mueller, Hayes) in after tonight's game is inexcusable. My prediction is they won't all be for who we want though...Lack plays, Mueller plays for Butcher and they call it a rest/wake-up call day, Hayes plays for Quenneville instead of Stafford :P

We need to play our best lineup, and icing a pylon who is the exact opposite to what the team is trying to do isn’t going to help

This is true either. The team has had plenty of good stretches with this same lineup.

we have the D to get into the postseason. the coaches just arent using them correctly. moore is a big reason we can even talk about playoffs right now. moore plays for the rest of the season. not even a debate on that.

Plenty? They won 5 games in a row around Christmas time and they didn’t even look all that good in some of those games. But take that stretch out and what you have is the hot start and a sub.500 team through everything else. On top of that, winning at this time of the year is an entirely different ballgame than winning earlier in the season. Everything gets and will continue to get ratcheted up the rest of the way. What do you see that gives you confidence they can do this? Honest question.

Bold prediction.

Appleby gets called up, since Hynes seems to go out of his way not to play Lack, and he gets the start tomorrow. Mueller plays for Severson, but possibly Butcher. Hayes probably plays someone not named Stafford.

We really need to be playing our best lineup if possible and Severson and Butcher are both better than Lovejoy. Neither should be sitting for him.

As much **** as Lovejoy is getting, I’d let him play tomorrow. No way he should sit over Moore who has been nothing short of dreadful the last few weeks. He’s completely regressed back to the lousy defender that he’s always been. Brutal doesn’t even begin to describe his game tonight.

Believe me if I thought there was any better than a 0.0% chance they would healthy scratch Moore I'd be calling for it too. But I'll believe it's a possiblity when I actually see it for the first time in three years, or maybe the second - there was possibly one game he was healthy scratched but I don't remember it offhand. Right now there's as much chance they healthy scratch Moore as there is they healthy scratch Greene or Vatanen. Those are the only guys on D seemingly immune to the axe, though Butcher hasn't been healthy scratched YET either I think that's coming eventually.

Are you referring to Moore or Lovejoy, because Lovejoy played the least at even strength of any defenseman tonight. A third pairing defenseman doesn't have nearly the impact on wins/losses that some people seem to think they do. Moore, however, is the dumbest defenseman I've ever seen and chases the puck constantly. Plus he doesn't know how to get defensive positioning on anybody.

if you scratch moore you need to have you head examined. hes been one of the only guys on d putting up a solid effort this year. the moore hate on this board is disturbing and i suspect its been influenced by outside sources posing as inside sources.

Moore was playing better up until this last stretch where he's running all over the damn place and getting himself out of position way too much.
