Hi all. First time poster, long time reader. Read an interesting article recently about the emotional toll sports can have on fans Jets' playoff run taps into 'our evolutionary roots' and takes emotional toll on fans | CBC News, and I have to say I think I fall more into the latter category ie. obsessive, lol. I haven’t hurt this bad since we lost the Jets in 1996. First thing in my mind when I woke up this morning was “I can’t believe it’s over” and “F*** Vegas”. Really don’t feel like doing much of anything today, other than trolling all the forums and Jets articles, even though the weather is awesome. I know this sadness will pass eventually, but man, I really thought the stars had aligned and this was our year. Don’t want to wait another 20+ years for this…
Having said that, I am incredibly proud of this team and this city. With the same hard work and focus, and a little bit of luck we’ll be back in the hunt next year and beyond.
Going outside and hope some sunshine will cheer me up.
Go Jets Go!
P.S. – on a lighter note, any one get weird superstitions over the playoffs? I always felt if I cleaned up and worked hard during game days that the work ethic would somehow magically transfer to the Jets. Stupid I know, but it sure made for a clean house on game days . I think I read somewhere that superstitions give fans a way to feel some sort of control over things.
