I find it much easier to deal with hockey ending in late May than early April. Reminds me of the Simpsons episode when Itchy & Scratchy is scrapped and the kids rub their eyes, leave their houses, and reengage with the world...

Its a bad idea to get too emotionally tied up in it. Even if they win the cup you won't get a ring or the 50 million $ contract. I'm sorry, but that's the way it is.

I wouldn’t have it any other way! If I don’t get emotionally invested, then I may as well not even be a fan. I sure as hell am not just a bandwagon fan that hops aboard because there’s suddenly street parties to go to.

Yes, I know many who used the Jets as a party excuse but couldn’t actually name many of the Jets. Bandwagoners.

You can get emotionally invested in it and still walk away 2 seconds after its over. That's what the 'its over' part means.

I can relate to the fans getting depressed, especially the ones with high hopes like myself. I was so sure the Vegas would be nothing more than a quick breakfast and the easiest path to the finals. How badly did I misjudge them (not having watched LV enough gave me the wrong impression here) just pisses me off. Pffft. At the same time we must remember that this is hockey and in short series where there are no weak teams basically anything can happen. It sucks but life goes on. Been so busy in the real life lately I have other personally more important things on the list, so that helps, but the frustration still lurks in the back of my mind.

Oh well, getting as far as the Jets did is a good sign of all the good things to come. Guess I'll be spending little less time on the forums for the next 4-5 months but I wish you all the best and it was an enjoyable season & experience and I'm glad I got to share it with all the fans in here! Next year it'll be payback time for those cursed golden knights!

I was really pissed on Friday night then again on Sunday afternoon, I woke up today in a good mood. If I am waiting for a championship as my payoff then I will need to find a new sport. We are going to lose most every season at some point so I am either going to find joy in the journey or I will just end up being one of those termianlly angry posters in PGT's after losses. The ultimate payoff one day will be a Stanley Cup and if that event happens I will cherish it forever. Along the way though I am going to treat every regular season like a playoff to make the playoffs and celebrate that milestone when/if we make it. I will also celebrate the series wins along the way and learn to find piece and enjoyment with incremental victories.

If I am only truly happy when we win the cup this journey is not worth it. This was a great regular season and a great playoff run up until the point we ran into a hot goalie. I was depressed for about 30 minutes but now I am finding the joy in the amazing ride this season brought us.

This is wonderfully articulated and is exactly how I feel.

I’m not to upset, this isn’t the best team we have. Laine and Ehlers are both still really raw(Laine needs time to work on skating and Ehlers needs time to work on puck disruption), Connor has more room to grow(mostly on finishing plays, I wouldn’t be surprised if he became as good as Schief by 25yrs old with his talent), Roslovic has lots of room to grow(potentially a really good 2C), Niku is potentially gonna be a an Elite Scoring Defensmen(and PP specialist), Vesalainen looks like he could be as good as Ehlers or Connor, Samberg is looking really, really good as well, Hellebuyck has proven he’s the best young Goalie in the league, Morrissey is top 30(I think, lol) in 5v5 Defensmen scoring and hasn’t seen the PP yet while being one of the best young defensive minded/ shutdown Defensmen in the league, Trouba is PowerPlay #1 time(and a couple more games played) off from being a 1D....

Not many people expected the success we had this year, but this all we have to give, this team and franchise is one of the youngest and has to be the most talented one in the league by a fair amount.... I don’t think we need to be depressed, this was a I real good season and a sign of what’s to come.

I was angry the first day but that cooled down and I started looking at what we have which is summarized nicely in the quoted post.

Yeah I was pretty upset too, I rationalized and got myself ready for us to lose before the elimination game. I had to say to myself, that this team is really young, not even all the talent is touched for most players and majority of the team is very inexperienced. Yeah it’s definitely dissapoinning to lose the way we did but the success we had was allot more than most people expected anyways. I look back to the 2010 NHL playoffs as a 10 year old Penguins fan with my grandpa at the time(more so a Crosby fan, since I hadn’t been alive for the original Jets) I remember them getting smoked pretty hard by the Canadiens(this might be a bad analogy cause they won the year before, but I wasn’t as in to hockey until the Olympics and it became #1 after that) I didnt pit they’re team as a failure just because they failed to get by one year, now they are the best dynasty of this generation (unfortunately my grandpa was a Pens fan too and he died 1 year after in late 2011 and missed out on the success, but regardless we got to bond because of it), all that being said I’m gladly a Jets fan since 2011 and no longer have to be a fan to any other team(f***ing ******** Bettman).... All I’m saying is just because we didn’t win it this year doesn’t mean we can’t win it, no one even expected us to contend for it but now we know we can and we know that our roster contains many players that can still progress and we will have more assets that can make our team better for the future as well.

Yes it was hard to accept that it is over. And I am not even Winnipegger or Canadian.
But it was very entertaining season for sure.
