The NHLPA regularly defends members from the slightest to the most severe punishment for injuring other members. They don’t view the punishment as being member vs member. They view it as member vs NHL or Team.

The NHLPA defending DeAngelo would be no different. DeAngelo vs Rangers.

I was referring to general labor unions, because it's something I've seen play out multiple times.

I wonder what would Torts say if he got sent to Columbus.

Having DeAngelo (and the bad press that comes with him) might be quite literally the last thing Ottawa needs right now. That said given all the teams with capspace to take his contract, I see Melnyk being the only one going for it (no way Lou Lamoriello or Yzermann touch him with a 10 foot pole).

if they are given a 2022 2nd for free they might just take him and Ottawa can just have him report to the AHL squad and again if he doesn't terminate the contract.

Brisson is one of the top agents in the game and super connected, so wouldn't shock me if he found a landing spot. Will have to wait while things die down, but his career is far from over.

Lolz Herman got owned

I hope Berkshire and those other losers realize that at the end of the day he is in fact - a fan blogger. Nothing more and nobody with good sources.

OK so to be fair - while TDA made an unnecessary comment - Georgiev did instigate by clocking him. He really put pedal to the metal

Makes more sense the other way around: Georgiev did clock him, but DeAngelo instigated it by making an unnecessary (and likely inflammatory) comment? If he was instructed that he was on his last chance then he got what was coming to him (with the punch and being waived).

That's the problem I have with sport unions.

He'll never be traded to Ottawa , unless money is going back.
-Eugene won't want to spend 4.85m.
-All Dorion talks about is character, nuff said.

That was almost forty years ago now, though. Different times? I'm sure there are some more recent examples - just seems strange to pull out one from so long ago, in such an unusual, not-since-replicated incident.

That, and it was a one time thing. It's easier for people to compartmentalize something, even if it's horrible, if it's not ongoing. That doesn't make it right, but that's usually how it goes.

If MacTavish was racking up DUIs every season it'd be a different story.

I hope Ottawa asks for more than a 2nd for having to eat 10 million dollars over the next 2 years.

Who says any team would be taking salary. I did suggest 90% salary retained and giving up a 2nd 2022 pick to get someone to take him.

Most of the time they don't. Some people learn and change. If you stop believing in that potential then you stop believing in the humanity of people.

It's easy to be cynical. It's up to him to turn his life around. Every day is an opportunity for everyone of us to be better. If you think people are a finished product at 25 or 45 or 65 I'd say you are wrong.

It's highly likely he doesn't improve himself, but you are wrong if you think there isn't an opportunity for it.
You're right and I would love that but if you consider his dad and what he's done to date, he's not changing

I dunno. Dany Heatley was close, except he killed a teammate instead of a woman and wasn't over the legal limit, he was just speeding to show off in his sports car

Arizona could use a problem child... too soon?
LA's got Lias Andersson who they took a flyer on, wonder if they would consider Tony also.
Ottawa and Jersey have also had histories of making controversial moves and in a rebuild I wonder if they'd be interested in him.

You know DeAngelo and his politics?

You wanna bring that to Parliament Hill? You know the political capital of the most post modernist and socialist state in North America?

You mean the modernist state with the Black face performing PM? That one? Asking for a friend.

(Mod) ... probably not much

Until Torts saw DeAngelo play. And then his ass would be stapled to the bench again. Torts doesn't give a damn how skilled you are offensively. If you don't play a rugged defensive style you are in trouble with him.

I actually wish DeAngelo still had twitter. would have been hilarious lol
he allegedly has a burner account, which admittedly is suspicious reading it.. but could be fake

has a bunch of numbers and letters in the name, but google or twitter search his name + burner and you'll probably find it
