You may not recall when he posted here regularly, but during that time he "broke" the story that Kessel was hooked on drugs. Unfortunately for Murph, the drug issues he claimed Kessel had turned out to be testicular cancer.

I recall him still posting here when I joined and initially I thought to myself "cool, a true insider". Just like my ability to scout amateur talent, he`s unreliable at best

I have a gut feeling Sweeney wanted that too but I`ll settle for 6 years

Anyone know how long it`ll take Pasta to get to camp? Still not terribly impressed he wasn`t at least around Boston, surely his agent had to know they were getting close to finalizing this thing?

As I said before, with the 8-year term vs. 6, you can't even compare the two.

Even if the Drasitl contract is an overpayment, that overpayment amount (call it 1.5 million a season for arguments sake) isn't going to make any difference to Edmonton's chances. It's not like that little bit more that could of been saved will give them the space to bring in anyone of significance.

On that one deal maybe. However, add in overpaying for Sekera, Russell, Lucic (?) etc., and as we found out when he was in Boston, small overpayments on average players adds up.

That does affect a team's ability to bring in players of significance.

I agree, when you start adding in multiple overpayments on non-core players, that's how you get in trouble and have to drop a quality player before you want to as we saw with Boychuk.

The overpayments on the Sekara and Russell deals will likely cost them a good player, maybe even before next season. I'd toss in the almost 2.0 million to Kassian as well.

If he re-ups Maroon he'll feel the squeeze even further.

honestly I was following him on Twitter for a while then it just got so brutal I had to put a stop to things for my sanity.

Checking in from a min-vacation, excellent news (even if I preferred 8 years, I get why this deal makes sense for both sides).

I said I wasn't going to get nervous until 9/20, and that there were no villains in this negotiation. I feel good about this one.

Two straight big deals Sweeney got in below the number I expected, so that's fantastic.

good job Sweeney. Like everyone else I wanted an 8 year deal but this became a compromise. Didn't think he would get him at that price, Sweeney hung tough in negotiations and it paid off.

I believe we have ~3.4m in space now. We'll need to pay Carlo/McAvoy relatively soon, so that's plenty to add another piece during the season/at the deadline and it gives us some wiggle room.

I love stuff like that. Before I moved to GA my son Sean Patrick went to school with the son of one of main men in the Hawks front office. When it came to insider info, he wouldn't gave me the time of day. His wife let me try on all 3 of his SC rings in the school parking lot after school when we were picking up our sons which was cool.

Wonder if his manager told him to stay home on purpose? His involvement in the China trip earlier in the year tells me he wants to be involved. No way he was happy missing out on captains practices and beginning of camp.

Also I've read nothing about where he is now, could have been on a plane this morning cor all we know (I checked his Instagram and no update)

Yeah I don`t know, just the little I have read and heard teammates and coaches talk about him, had to be killing him not being around it and I just found it strange that he was back in Europe, not sure why I just assumed he`d be in town working out locally but I suppose there`s a gym somewhere in the Czech Republic
