Crosby is the Pens' all-time most significant playoff performer. He will never match Mario in terms of sheer dominance or importance to the franchise, but he has contributed more to the legacy of the Pens in terms of their postseason success/cup runs than any other individual player, including Lemieux.

Congrats to Sid. Great player and a sweet treat to watch. Don’t think he’ll ever reach the tier of Sackic/Yzerman/Kurri/Howe but props to him and his unreal career. 3 peat Maybe? Pens fans are hopin’!!!
Lol Kurri? Come on man.

I'm going with what NHL.com claims are their adjusted point totals.
From NHL.com:

“Crosby leads the Penguins with an era-adjusted total of 164.6 points. That ranks No. 12 when applying that era adjustment to all players for every season since the Penguins joined the NHL in 1967-68.

Lemieux has 146.4 era-adjusted points.”

I’m assuming that is where you got your numbers? Just to give some context to the person you were replying to.

If the Pens team keeps on making the playoffs he's only currently 60 behind 3rd, it's very possible he can take 3rd place by the end of his career.

uh... No. He is not above Howe and will never be above Howe.

Yes he is. Easily. Crosby is better at hockey than Howe.

Playing most his career with only 5 other teams...slower game and less skilled players. Its really not close.

Which is pretty impressive when you compare eras. Mario got the bulk of his before we hit the DPE.
This is such a bs argument... if you watched Lemieux playoff games you know even in 89 teams started playing the hook, tackle and interfere style that drove the dpe on Lemieux... watch how Philadelphia played him in 89 once he scored 8 points on them...
Watch how both cup runs in the early 90's he got hacked and whacked way worse than they do in this era... Lemieux dealt with that way before it was commonplace to do it league wide... when he unretired past his prime in the middle of the DPE he tore it up still...

Lemieux was a far greater player than Crosby... he was just that much more talented... Crosby had a better work ethic... and he is really talented... but Lemieux loafed and dominated while Crosby has to try hard to reach that dominant state...

Nobody had the total physical package that Lemieux did... ever... its a shame he was so injured and that he didn't take care of himself... if he didn't smoke and worked outwho knows what levels he might have reached

Not that close indeed. Howe was in the League's Top 5 scorers for twenty straight years. Crosby, nothing of the sort. Howe beat his next closest competitor in points by 28% in 1952-53. Crosby, nothing of the sort. Howe was only thwarted by arguably the greatest dynasty of all time. Crosby, nothing of the sort. Howe was one of the best two-way players of his era. Crosby, nothing of the sort. Howe was League's MVP whopping six times. Crosby, nothing of the sort.

In his three Cup wins Crosby never lead his own team in points. Howe, nothing of the sort. Howe would whoop Crosby's ass in the very first shift, and in the second shift Crosby leaves the game with a concussion. Howe was much better in hockey than Crosby.

In fact, I am not certain Crosby already passed Jagr and Hull before taking on the Big Four.
