There is some problems in the system.

Patrik Laine is not one of them/those.

You can suck there at Winnipeg all you want, but you never suck as much as we suck everyday.

You may fail, but you won't fail because of Finnish road.

Patrik busts, 100 Patriks make an entry, out of those 2000 who were on line...

You won't sell Patrik in a slave markets! You sold Teemu! We will never forget that. Never.

Just pay what a sniper is worth of. Zimpanzee!

I'd say Teemu was pretty happy to be traded, judging by the Stanley Cup ring and the number of rounds of golf he's played in midwinter and the home he keeps there. But maybe he's a masochist. Is that a Finnish trait?

He's a defensive specialist. Most defensive specialists are. Among defensive specialists, Lowry is nothing special. He'd be better used as trade bait.
As effective than the top-end defensive C the Avs just acquired...

Encore. Live.

'They' must realize they cannot skip this one.

Buy, sell, intrique. But not with this one.

The background sound of Patrik.

I'm not alone.

Winnipeg millionaires cannot buy the global fandom.

With Patrik it comes as default. Drunken as hell, does someone care?

Here we are. YOU DO NOT SELL PATRIK SHORT IN WINNIPEG!

After Teemu.

Nothing wrong with rounding a players game out but you shouldn't be trying to completely change his game all over the ice which to some extent Maurice is trying to do.

For instance he's trying to mold Laine into a crash and bang cycle player in the offensive zone. Not his strength and goes against the creative/transition game he's played all his life.

Teach him proper defensive positioning, how to get the puck out of the end effectively, how to rotate to cover and what his assignments are. All of that is fine but Maurice should not be telling Laine what to do in the offensive zone or she he has the puck on his stick.

As Trotz said to Ovie. "When we have the puck do what you want but she we don't have the puck do as I say" or something like that.

Where do you get this stuff?
Who said Maurice is trying to turn this guy into a crash and bang player.
How would you know the extent of what Maurice is trying to get done with Laine - completely changing his game? Based on what?

Please see interview posted by GMoney. Maurice says it himself, he wants to turn him into a power forward.

Just drunken fanboyisms, a'la Finland.

FO of Jets isn't simply thought this all...

At the risk of introducing Norwegians into the mix, I fear without Laine we are headed for a December Elegy and Midwinter Tears. :(
Of course, it's only mid-afternoon here, so I'm not drunk yet. No seriously, I'm not.

Wow. I might have... just might, have seen girls gone wild, but @Se829ne has gone full Finnish. Haha, no offence. That's our music, just took me by guard. This isn't what I'd expect from contracts thread, but still better than the earlier ones. :D

We might as well post post some cyanide and happiness comics here to have something new to say. I think everything has been said, now we are just all waiting and we ain't that pacient. We should be, but what can we do.

That being said. I did not have a clue before, I'd say nothing has changed. Not even the heresay (?) that Connor would be signing a long contract, since there are negotiation tactics even from his team, not only Laine can play "the waiting game".

Still waiting for both. Not a clue how it's gonna happend.

I would base it on the routes Laine skates in the 2nd line. Last to exit D-zone and first back. That is the exact opposite of how you should use a great rush player. It is against his instincts too, does not play that role and those routes with any other coach. Or in any different line. That is on coaching for certain. Changing the natural instincts of the player to fit the style coach wants them to adopt. That could work with a mediocre player who has no other ambitions than be part of a good team, and do what ever the coach tells them to. Laine wants to be the spearhead because he knows he can be just that when given the proper role.
