If you are looking at statlines alone for Rykov and Maltsev, you are doing them a disfavor...significantly.

Rykov has been averaging 13-14 minutes of ice time on one of, if not the, deepest defensive corps in the KHL. Maltsev has clawed his way up into a 2nd line center role (sometimes bounces back and forth between 2nd and 4th line). Both of these players are still extremely young and are getting prime-time professional experience on the best team in the second best league in the world.

What they are doing is really, really impressive.

I’m not too surprised hearing this about Rykov, but pleasantly surprised that Maltsev is making some real progress.

1st goal for Rykov. Pretty good wristler it was, alas, the KHL site is geoblocked in NA.

And Maltsev with another assist on Gusev's goal. The 4th point in last 5 games for the youngster.

With Davies and Seney we've got two later-round picks with real potential in the NCAA; with Maltsev and Rykov we've got two later-round picks with real potential in the KHL. I like the odds that we'll get a good player out of these four kids.

A little update on Fabian Zetterlund he has played mostly in SHL in a very limited role getting only 7 minutes in average a game so no points to show for he's first 13 games.

But in he's 14 th game he got 14 min and produced one assist. Another note is that he's team is leading the SHL so that is a thing to take in.
A little question, isn't Zetterlund one of the youngest players in he's draft class or what?
