It's not a "fire Chia" point, and it always gets drowned out in the Fire Chia thread anyway, but *if* he stays, he should not be allowed to keep both the President Of Hockey Ops (POHO) AND General Manager positions.
There has to be some accountability here at some point, no one with his track record for the last 4 years as GM (3 years out of the playoffs) should be able to run an organization with both roles unchallenged. He should be forced to give up one of those positions.
If he wants to stay the President Of Hockey Ops, fine, then we go find a new GM that can handle trades, contract negotiations, and other day to day details that Chiarelli is poor at. Chia can focus on more general things and working with Keith Gretzky on scouting.
If he wants to stay the General Manager, then fine, we bring in an experienced hockey person to be the new President of Hockey Ops. Chia has to get permission from that person to make any major trade or contract signing and the POHO should have the authority to override him if the deal is stupid.
That is more than fair IMO. He should not be allowed to keep both positions after 2/3 years out of the playoffs here and not even close this year, you can't as a franchise just gift away both positions and let someone run them with no oversight when you are at this point.
