That's fair Tarheel, but no one actually thinks the Canes are going to be the Whalers again. That's some grandstanding bs playing to his crowd - when even his crowd thinks it's stupid concept.

This is true, but surely you understand why this is different than people getting in a Twitter fight. This isn't a "don't let one bad apple represent the bunch" situation. He's the governor. He literally represents the whole bunch, and speaks for the state when he does something like that. The targets of those letters are well within their rights to get all up in a dander about it. He's attacking them as an actual representative of the State of Connecticut.

No but a lot of former Whaler fans hate the Hurricanes, at least the ones I know. That is what is perplexing. I'd be really annoyed if my team moved away after years of failure and then promptly won the Stanley Cup too, but damn.

And some, I assume are good people who became Caniacs
:sarcasm:

I do feel bad for the fans that lost their team and appreciate them still being attached to it. In principle, I like the idea of Whalers nostalgia being stoked with Jerseys and whatnot, and I'd even support a game up there wearing the Whalers uniform, but not if it encourages jagoffs like this governor to pop off like he did.

at this point it seems as bad an idea as throwing a pity-f*** to a psycho ex girlfriend just for old times sake.

All the likes for you.

Berger always looked like the "morning after" picture of the worst bender in your life. Dude could score tho....although I don't think I ever saw him skate into his defensive zone once.

And throw down. I loved Berger. He was the highlight of my early hockey fandom. I'll never forget when he moonlighted as a Mortgage specialist, and I came home to him sitting at my parents table talking to them about refinancing. I was like star stuck. Good times.

One of the craziest experiences of my hockey life was when the Checkers acquired Berger. News traveled slow back then, so nobody knew about the trade until 10 minutes before his debut. The arena announcer laid it out there for everyone and you could have cut the tension in that arena with a knife. It would be like if the Hurricanes traded for Brooks Orpik and you found out right before the national anthem of his debut game.

Hope that survey came with a "Here's an Amazon gift card for your time in filling this out." That seems unnecessarily long.

I think it's fair to say that STM generally have a strong desire to make their voices heard. For this demographic, the opportunity to ***** directly to management is probably worth more than a gift card.

To change things for better they need data though

I was joking about the Amazon card, but not really about the length of the survey. I hope they do get enough responses and if so, it's a non issue. I know, as a past STH, I'd look at the length of this and immediately put it in the trash.

Interesting take, BBA. I'm actually really impressed with how detailed that survey is and I'd be happy to fill one out.

Hey, if they get enough people to fill them out, then the length it's a non issue. I just have seen with organizations I've been in (or involved with), that the longer the survey, the worse participation we got. There was always a sweet spot between enough questions to be meaningful and too many that impacts participation. For me, I get survey's for everything now. Got my car serviced for a recall, got a survey afterwards. Used the chat feature at my credit card for service, got a survey. Had a new HVAC unit put in, got a survey. Ordered something from Amazon, got a survey from the vendor, etc.. If they are more than a handful of questions, they go in the trash (1/2 of them do anyhow).

In fairness, a STH, as tarheel said, will have a more vested interest to have their voices heard where-as some of these other surveys, there isn't that vested interest for most of them. And I do think it's a good thing and it's promising that they are asking as I don't recall seeing anything like this when I was a STH in the past.

I used to be in a survey group that filled a 10-15 minute survey weekly. Around Christmas time they used to send some cool stuff and once I got packages of sugar and syrup for testing. I saw the results every now and then referred in the news and learned the inner workings stuff like why there sometimes wasn't the obvious option "only a little" inbetween "none" and "some" (=because the reported results had it that the most of us people were hungering at least for "some" and then the survey client set out to get us some).

Then they stopped with the cool stuff and changed it to a point system, but the thing that really flipped me over was them making a donation for me to some developing country sceme as my reward. I really wanted my ****ing yearly quality scissors set bad, and this was not the deal.
