Blue Jays Discussion: Borucki finally struggled a bit. But it's probably not time to panic yet.

Why would the Yankees trade German? They want to add good pitching, not subtract it. If they're moving a pitcher it will likely be a non-roster guy or Loaisiga.

They would be adding a good pitcher, and if they’re adamant on not moving Sheffield, then a German/Loaisiga is the next best thing.

So is the plan to hang onto him and give him the QO?

that's all that anyone can hope for now. Give him a QO and let him try again next year. He'd be foolish not to take it either. I don't even want the jays to offer him any kind of term

OK gameday had him 91-93 all game, but called every single fastball a 2-seamer so that means plenty of movement. that can work. though by the 6th the velo dropped a bit.

changeup was in the 82-84 range so that's a nice gap too.

how did his curveball look?

This isn't true. Whats the point of him taking a QO? The game has changed, no one is giving him a mega-deal at 33/34 years old even if he bounces back next year given his injury history the past few seasons and the fact that his defense is likely to be shot. He's almost better off taking the guaranteed 3/$75 mill or whatever this offseason and banking on 1 year deals if he's still legit by the end of that deal. The qualifying offer value for 2018 was $17.4 million; he can get a better AAV going straight to free agency even with this injury plagued season.

Couldn’t give an accurate assessment of his curveball. Wasn’t 100% focused on the game.

Yes he could reject the QO but we'd still get comp picks so we don't end up with nothing as was suggested.

pardinho has been very, very, very impressive in his first two outings. not only striking out 35% of batters but also getting I think every other out on a groundball, with no flyouts.

0.75 WHIP. Doesn't seem out of place in Bluefield either. All of his outs have come by SO or groundballs so far except one infield popup.

This is correct, in theory. That's if you think you can get the guaranteed third year, at that kind of aav, with a QO attached. That's a tough pill to swallow for a franchise that analyzes his time missed in '17, and then again in '18 with the same issue. Seeing what happened with a 28 year old Moustakas, I think that may be a pipedream.
