- people who go to the gym to do bodyweight exercises and take up way too much space
- people who are not dressed appropriately, such as wearing dress clothes
- not cleaning off the equipment no matter how little you used it
I will never understand why people complain about this? Quite honestly what does it matter what people are wearing? Assuming they're body is covered or whatever.
Personally I would never wear jeans to workout, but what does it matter to me if a guy is?
I also don't really mind the body weight people. Even if they can do it somewhere else, there's some simple motivation/inspiration in simply going to the gym for some. I myself don't do many body weight exercise (aside from pull ups), but if I did, I'd still probably go to the gym to do it. I have workout equipment at home that turned out to be pretty much a waste of money because I struggle to "get in the zone" at home. Too many distractions. That said, body weight people also need to be respectful of space. It's not hard to find a spot off to the side to do pushups. If they just refuse to do that, and insist on getting in the middle of everyone or something, then I agree with you.
As for my personal pet peeves:
Biggest one for me is large groups. Maybe it's because I'm older now, but I despise summer at the gym. Give me the new year's eve group any day over these highschool kids who think it's cool, smart, whatever to work out in groups of 4 or 5 on same piece of equipment. I honestly think 3 is too much. However, 4 or 5 on one machine is just bad. It doesn't make any sense rest wise, and it ties the equipment up too long. The worst is when they all talk. Why in the hell is no one doing a set when there's 4 or 5 of you?
Guys that grunt/yell way too much. I don't mind something on those difficult reps or every now and then, but there are guys in there that literally yell or grunt insanely loud every freaking rep. Shut the **** up. It's an attention thing. There's no reason I should hear them over my headphones. That's nuts.
guys that walk with their damn arms wide as **** for no reason. If no one is around them, whatever. I think that's kinda funny/lame, but I don't mind it. However, they'll be coming down the hall from locker room and refuse to put them down... so dumb. They would literally brush against my sweaty body than put their arms down.
other two are common ones: people that don't wipe down their equipment and people that don't re-rerack their weights.
