in all seriousness though, i still wouldn't give him a 7yr x 7m deal. he's going to end up being an overpaid powerplay specialist

I wouldn't worry, he won't choose Detroit anyway. I see him in Toronto next season, Babcock will put him in the right spot.

God, I hope Crosby comes back. If the Pens don't win and Crosby doesn't come back, all the talk will be about what would've happened if Crosby was healthy.

I can handle the talk if it means someone else is raising the Cup in June.

*Not that I'm wishing an injury on him. Just that the what-ifs won't matter much to me if I get to see a team like Nashville or Washington hoist the Cup. Won't have an asterisk next to it in the history books.

Who cares? Detroit still holds the back to back title if that happens :). Only thing I care about if Detroit don't win

Go Washington. A win is a win. All though I wouldn't be surprised if niskanen is suspended for 50 games for accidently hurting the NHL golden boy.

So much outrage on the main boards. Funny how there was none of this uproar back when Franzen was beasting in the playoffs in the late 2000s and got punched/elbowed in the head several times a game despite already having a concussion history by then.

Yeah well the wings weren't cup contenders. Didn't have a choker label and more. Some people might have called yzerman a choker or the team chokers after being swept. But that usually happens just because they are bitter. It hasn't been like 10 straight years of being the best or second best and not even making the conference finals

They might have been contenders for 3-4 years if you wanna stretch it

if Washington doesn't win this year then they both had 5 years as a 1st or 2nd seed without winning anything(with Washington's being non consecutive with 4 years in the middle where they were nowhere near the top)

is there really much difference between losing to the eventual cup winner a couple times in the 2nd round or a couple times a little bit later?(especially last year where the Capitals and Penguins were the two teams with the most points remaining after the first round and only even played each other in the second because of those new divisional rules) because that's pretty much the only difference between the two of them, other than that they were both swept in the 2nd round, they were both upset in the 1st round by a 8 seed, and this season still undetermined for the Capitals while the Wings lost the other one in the first round

Also Kuznetsov has been one of the most disappointing playoff players in recent memory. Has he done anything meaningful in a playoff series?

Took this from old topic.

Kuznetsov has 9+6=15 points in career 35 playoff games.

Datsyuk had 3+12=12 points on his first 37 playoff games, as 2 years older.

Imo, th jury is still out there.

Kuznetsov not collecting assists is more of linemates not burying chances, if anything.

Datsyuks first year he wasn't a star and also played on the 4th line iirc

The fact Gary Roberts was a story today in Canada making those comments when he tried to cheapshot Franzen in the head coming off a concussion was great. What a hypocritical ******* the master of power skating comes off like with those comments.

Holtby's been pretty good. The Caps just refuse to play playoff hockey. I know they can, because I've seen them do it for short stretches, mostly when they're on the ropes. Too much hubris on that team.

You've seen them play playoff hockey? When? Even when they play good they usually lose

I doubt they beat Pittsburgh 3 straight games in a row

Holtbys been ok. The goal off orpik is just bad luck. Nothing the goalie can do.

The caps offense though had about 40 shots and only scored twice?
