Franson does kind of suck, he is one of the most unbalanced players I've ever seen in the NHL

But give me that contract all day over Kindl or Quincey

Wish we could, but obviously won't. Have always really, really liked Huberdeau.

How much? I wouldn't do it tho, Unless we lose like absolutely nothing.

AVERAGE ANNUAL VALUE COMPENSATION
Less than $1,205,377 Nothing
$1,205,377-to-$1,826,328 Third-round pick
$1,826,328-to-$3,652,659 Second-round pick
$3,652,659-to-$5,478,986 First and third-round picks
$5,478,986-to-$7,305,316 First, second and third-round picks
$7,305,316-to-$9,131,645 Two firsts, a second and third-round picks
$9,131,645 or greater Four first-round picks

Let's say he gets near what Nyquist's contract is (4.75M), he would cost a 1st and 3rd round pick.
If he gets what Saad is making (6M), he would cost a first, second and thrid round picks.

Let's say FLA decides to trade him (I don't think so), what could DET offer?

I think Florida matches $6m. I think they force a team to go over $7.4m to have any chance at not matching, and even then they'd probably be better off matching it, then retaining a bit of salary and dealing him off later on.

A friend who has Marlies season tickets is pissed about this trade. I laughed and said welcome to the Babcock era. Just making room for washed up veteran contracts. Finn and Beck are really good prospects imo. Gibson was pretty good when I seen the Griffins in TO as well.

grabner ain't scoring again but he's just 27. beck isn't prospect anymore but NHLeer, though only 4th liner, maybe 4th. finn could bounce back but he was in ECHL last year. looks like good junior years haven't translated, at least yet.

gibson is passable but they already had two AHL goalies. bibeau stole gibson starting job last season.

nilsson is a solid prospect though. could end up as #4D.

Finn was a decent prospect at worst I think, and the toronto/marlie fans liked Gibson.

Not a really good trade. Haha Lou

Coming off a 2nd hernia surgery is a very big deal. Not much risked and they cleared contracts...

Funny the Islanders (according to most their fans) kept all those spots by not signing a guy like Russo to just go pick up a grab bag of pretty similar guys anyway.

Toronto opened some contract spots from the 50-limit with this move.

And probably because they are gonna sign their try-outs, Clencross, Boyes, Setoguchi etc.

Tie goes to the veterans. :)

So did you guys see ol' GM Lou in Toronto has outlawed facial hair?

Somebody better tell Zetterberg and Kronwall they are unprofessional.
