Scared what his next deal is gonna look like after this season. Would’ve been nice to lock him in at 3-4 years around 2.5M prior to this season. Now he’s gonna be in the 4M+ AAV.
Copp is a Swiss Army Knife...
He can play a pure defensive role and he does very well, but he's also scored at a decent clip when he's played with skill. This is why @garret9 and I have been screaming for years about how he deserves a shot in the top 6.
As is, his scoring rates have been near identical to Little's since the start of 2018-19. They've dropped a bit when he's played with the likes of Lowry and Tanev, but they've jumped to legit 1st line levels when he's played with the likes of Roslovic and Ehlers.
I hope he gets to stick with skill when PLD enters the lineup, because he's the kind of player that you can use in a 1st or 2nd line role, to really deepen your lineup.
I Love how Laine called Andrew Copp a star out of anyone on the Jets in his interview, Way to go Copper!! Having Scheifele, Dubois, Connor, Ehlers, Wheeler and now a 6th true high end player in Copp. He has really made this team deeper and helps Chef on the 1st line a lot more then KC did in my opinion!!! Add in a bottom 6 of Stastny, Perreault, Appleton, Harkins, Lowry, Lewis, extras Vesalainen , Gus and Thompson looks awesome to me! Go Jets Go!
What interview was this in?
What do people think of Andrew Copp now? The last post on this thread was about a month ago.
I have always liked his defensive play and the solid effort he puts in every shift. Dude has a real set of stone hands, though.
I personally think he'll be gone to Seattle but, if not, I'd try to sign him for 3 years at 3-3.5 million.
Yeah - I really like him, he brings a lot to the table in all areas of the ice, but his hands are just not at a top 6 level. That's fine. Problem is, another team will pay him more than we will for what he is.What do people think of Andrew Copp now? The last post on this thread was about a month ago.

Oh yeah he's getting that.Still think so?
Oh yeah he's getting that.
There has to be about a dozen teams who thinks he could be their 2C solution.
I'd rather do a sign and trade - get more for him that way.Well if they really think that, deal him for a player or pick, maybe he brings back a 1st round pick, I sincerely doubt it.
Not bad for a 4th round pick & 104th OA.....good drafting by Chevy & team.
Ah yes, when a Chevy pick works out it's always "good drafting". When they bust, it's never bad drafting, just "drafting kids that age is such a crapshoot".

Masson Appleton 2015 WPG, 6th rd, 168th overallJust this season we have on our roster
Andrew Copp 2013 WPG, 4th rd, 13th pk (104th overall)
Adam Lowry 2011 WPG, 3rd rd, 6th pk (67th overall)
Tucker Poolman 2013 WPG, 5th rd, 6th pk (127th overall)
Sami Niku 2015 WPG, 7th rd, 17th pk (198th overall)
Connor Hellebuyck 2012 WPG, 5th rd, 9th pk (130th overall)
looks like a pretty decent track record after the 2nd round to me
Copp is off to a great start:
Jets should pay up to keep him long-term.
xG is highly based on shot location (among other things). closer you are to the net = higher xG you accumulate per shot attempt. Galalgher, Lee, Tkachuk are often top guys since their shot distance is closer to the net, tips, dirty areas etc.Kind of interesting that outside of McDavid, all those players have very similiar styles of play
