The All Star rosters are posted. They don't include the players in todays final.

Surprised to see no Brandon Shea or Chase De Leo. For the US to compete with Canada, I was hoping they'd take as many CHL and USHL players as possible.

Sounds like Matt Weis and Justin Bailey are two of the most in demand 95s out there. NTDP, USHL and OHL all courting them.

told all the nhl teams at the interviews athat he was going to michigan

He was going to Michigan...at the time.

Perhaps his future employers decided where they would like to see their future employee train...and that's not Michigan?

Odd that Gross didn't make the squad when invited out to NTDP.

There is talk that a few kids had been offered a spot to fill the vacancy x 3 at the NTDP but some said no and others are thinking about it. They are making their way through their list of potential recruits. Jumping in to fill what could be a 8th D and 3rd or fourth line forward does not sound great to a player who has options, or a player who sits back a wonders why a top talent like Chatham wanted out.

Guertler? I don't see the upside for him. Top line minutes in Fargo for a fight for minutes with the NTDP. Gross is also in a tough spot. Green Bay loves the kid and will give him top 4 minutes. A kid like Bailey makes sense. Raw, does not project to have big offensive upside, and will fit into a checking roll at the NTDP once he catches up. A great program but not a great fit for everyone.

Can anyone fill us in on why the NTDP does not send their team to compete at the IH?

Weis did a great job showing his stuff this week. Not a great all star game but its a long week. The All-Star game was fun to watch. Some good end to end action and some great goaltending. Madsen was great. Raskob, Gross and Heinrich on defense were strong. McGlynn, Eiserman, Erne, Guertler, and Bailey really showed well up front.

Sounds like Trouba is headed to Kitchener next season

I would be shocked if did. He seemed kind of open to it on TSN immediately after being drafted, but in the post-draft interviews he sounded very committed to Michigan and playing under Red Berenson. He also said he made that choice clear to NHL teams in his interviews.

Then again, both Julian Melchiori and Cody Sol went through Kitchener, so it's possible the Jets have a close relationship with the Rangers.

Going with a different mix of kids for summer international tournaments is a great way to get international experience for more than just the 20 kids on the NTDP team, and they don't have to worry about taking kids away from their regular teams to do it.

Also, the Hlinka gets a little more attention because Canada sends a good team, but none of the summer tournaments are IIHF events, so it's a low stakes opportunity for USA Hockey to get to know a different group of kids. There's definitely been kids they've picked in the past that afterwards they've said privately they would never take to an international event again. Better to have them do that at a tournament that doesn't mean a lot as opposed to waiting until the World Juniors.

Thatcher Demko confirmed he's joined the NTDP U18 squad.

And it sounds like forward Shane Eiserman may have accepted an invite to join the NTDP U18 squad next season as well.

So with Demko they'll go with three goalies? Sure indication that they what one of the current goalies to leave.

Eiserman like Bailey may fit what the NTDP are looking for. Good for the player and good for the team.

Not looking to stir things up but there were some conversations this week that McCarron may be looking at getting out to play in Lincoln. He indicated after the USHL draft that he was committed to staying with the NT. Have things changed?

I wonder if USA Hockey should evaluate the structure of the NTDP. Is holding kids for two years bad for some kids and bad for the team? Should players be committed for one year at a time so they can choose to leave without feeling pressured to stay. Should the team evaluate players so heading into a U18 year they can ice the best team at the U18 Championship. Take it another step, should they hold a 40 or 50 man tryout for the U18 team that goes to the U18 Championship. Looking at the current team, take a few out, and add in Cammarata, Downing, and a few others who have turned down the NTDP to play in the USHL, CHL or players who have really raised their game during that season and think about the team that USA Hockey could put on the ice. WOW.

When Curtis Frye was taken in the USHL draft I figured that was a sure sign he wasnt coming back to the NTDP. I think the writing is on the wall with that one.

As for McCarron, his rights just got traded in the OHL too, so I think that might be his more likely way out.
