Oh now this could be interesting
Fried should have been pulled 20 pitches ago, dude has a 3-2 count 2 outs and threw it into the dirt 5 ft short of the plate for yet another walk...lucky to get out of that inning alive. Phillies have stranded 10 and it's only the 4th inning. It being only 3-0 is amazingbraves going to offer first aid classes in the offseason so they can have enough people to capable of performing the Heimlich on the team next season.
Only took 6 innings but they finally pulled their heads out of their asses and yea what a finish! When Riley was up to a full count, 2 outs, down 4-3 I was pretty much like "this next pitch will determine if they're still in it or not." (1) Strike and it's the 9th inning down 4-3, ALL the pressure is on. (2) It's a walk or base hit, gives you another batter and fresh set of pitches but doesn't mean a whole lot. (3) HR and you take the lead and put ALL the pressure on the Phillies in the top of the 9th after they've been leading all game long. And then that double-play to end it, Harris was determined to get that one at all costs. Harper made a desperation move to get close to scoring and was counting on that ball being dropped, when it wasn't he was in no-mans-landHoly shit what a finish. It’s like they hopped outa bed and realized they were playing ball.
Braves out with a whimper...so many squandered opportunities to keep in it. Did they really punch hit a rookie with 2 on and 2 outs in the 9th?
Per the broadcast, it was for the lefty pitcher vs righty hitter dynamic. But not exactly a situation you want to put on the shoulders of a rook.Braves out with a whimper...so many squandered opportunities to keep in it. Did they really punch hit a rookie with 2 on and 2 outs in the 9th?
As someone who has not been following any of this: why? That Garcia grand slam was the most *chef’s kiss* moment in baseball in quite some time.
As someone who has not been following any of this: why?
0 chance the Astros threw at Garcia in game 5 intentionally. Regular season, maybe.
You don’t throw at a guy when you are losing in the 8th inning of a pivotal playoff game.
Garcia went unhinged there.
