I really liked how genuine and happy he was in his interview. Always a great sign for a player coming to your team. You want a guy with personality as well.

I’m still shook from Bergfors and Josefson to get behind a Swedish forward in the 1st.

I also would’ve liked more size.

That being said with the two defensemen I liked gone I’m glad we went RW.
What? He's pushing 6'1" and is nearly 200 pounds at age 18....he plays a men's game.

Exactly who I wanted for once (excluding 1st overalls...and Ty Smith once he fell). Let's see what happens.

Also, no clue how anyone could hate this pick.

He's a one dimensional, non-200 foot player that we absolutely have to hitch to Hughes' wing in order for him to be successful. He's the type you trade back for, not take top 7.
Having watched a lot of his tape previously, this is false. But don't take my word for it:

Pronman's scouting report: What the Devils are getting in Alexander Holtz

Paywall, so:

NHL scout: “He’s a mature two-way winger with excellent stick skills. He’s a finisher with a quick release in traffic and a nose for where to be around the cage.”
