Hopefully the one really needed outcome from this is new stricter gun safety protocols on sets, if not straight up a mandatory gun safety supervisor.
The safety protocols don't need to be stricter. They need to be followed. They weren't in this case. These trials, especially if guilty verdicts are handed out, should go a long way to encouraging filmmakers to follow the protocols in the future.

Well it's clear there needs to be someone on set to make sure they are followed.

I believe that that's the job of the producers and armorer and why Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed are being charged. I might agree with transferring some of those responsibilities in the future to a dedicated safety officer who isn't distracted by having other jobs on set, though.

That's my point. If there are e.g. multiple producers, some of whom are in possibly acting roles, the focus won't be on the safety 24/7. I think this "safety officer" should be given the power to halt a production if safety regulations aren't followed. A public notice would be given, like "Production on the set of movie X was halted today due to lacking safety protocols with fire arms. Production will continue tomorrow when issues are resolved."

No there doesn't? That’s what laws are for, so people follow the rules and arent carless and lazy when it comes to deadly weapons. When they don’t follow those procedures and they f*** up, they face criminal charges.
Laws don't apply per se to movie sets, they need to follow regulations and guidelines that are not mentioned in regular lawbooks.

But you're pretending to be a legal expert yet you think Baldwin is the only producer at fault in this one?
He shot the gun as was directly overseeing that entire incident at that time? It's not legal advice, it's called facts and common sense.

It's not his job to oversee the gun, but the armorers. Doubleduty as producer and actor doesn't apply in that sense. But when it comes to the overall carelessness on set, as one of the producers he bears blame for that. I'm pointing out what others have posted already, how much is he to blame in this, that's the big questionmark in the legal sense.

Guess you should read up he and the production company already settled a while ago with the family and he didn't lose every red cent.
Another lawsuit from the family now that criminal charges were filed. Hope they get every cent from him.

Looks like the DA didn't do their homework.

“The prosecutors in this case have committed an unconstitutional and elementary legal error by charging Mr. Baldwin under a statute that did not exist on the date of the accident,” the scathing, 11-page motion filed by his lawyer Luke Nikas states.

First reported by Law&Crime a little more than a week ago, the so-called “firearm enhancement” added to the Hollywood celebrity’s top charge was amended after the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on Oct. 21, 2021.

The armorer's lawyer is making the same argument.

Bowles said the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office made a mistake by charging his client with a statute that passed after the ‘Rust’ shooting.

Looks like they indeed made a mistake.
And the DA has dropped the enhanced charge.

"The District Attorney has to be embarrassed," former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told Fox News Digital. "Charging a law retroactively is a constitutional violation, and something that every first year law student knows not to do.

"Now, she has egg on her face after overcharging the case and grandstanding for the press. She has made one legal blunder after another, and may be in over her head," he added. "There is no reason why she should have waited more than a year to file charges, or give assistant director David Halls a no time slap on the wrist when she is trying to put Baldwin in state prison."
