It's funny, I think we've gone so long since we've had a surplus of anything that Oilers fans don't understand that we can actually trade Barrie if Bouchard eclipses him. Imagine that, a tradeable asset. Everyone's talking like we'd have to wait for Barries contract to expire before Bouchard gets a chance to thrive.

They'll be able to score, that's for sure. But I fear they're going down the same path as the Leafs, or the Lightening pre-cup runs. All offence, and no defence/ability to win close games. I admit, I'd prefer to target someone like Bonino or Cizikas over Getzlaf, and even Hamonic over Barrie.


Though, as much as I like Bear (a lot), I admit, swapping him out via a trade for a legit starter, while signing a defenceman more cut out for a shutdown pairing and having Barrie and Bouchard on the other two pairings is tempting.

I just hope we get a better goalie. All the forward/defense improvements won't mean a lick if we're stuck with Smith/Koskinen again.

Get better with who? Hamilton (who will get severely overpaid)? Hoffman? Suter? Parise? No team will get significantly better from the FA. And if we are rumored to be in on all the players we heard the last 3 days, we will be the ones improved a lot.
