Jays need to go full rebuild. Probably botched the Donaldson situation such that they won't get any return. Realize they wanted to keep the momentum going, but Morales, Pearce, Granderson etc. Waste of AB's, waste of money.

The fact that they didn't trade Donaldson this offseason was pure incompetence. His value was as high as it was going to be going forward. They aren't resigning him so get a good package and look towards 2019/2020.

He's a very good defensive player but he has rocks between his ears when he gets a bat in his hands. It's not a skill thing. He can hit. He just doesn't know how to work a count to give him the best opportunity to get on base. He pretty much either gets a hit in the first pitch or goes down 1-2 or 0-2 as then flails away until striking out on a pitch out of the zone or getting out on weak contact

I remember that he hit leadoff in some games last year. He definitely shouldn't have been hitting there. I think 7th or 8th is the right spot for him in the order. I'd say that he's an elite defender. Too bad that some guy named Kevin Kiermaier is in the AL, or Pillar might have a few Gold Gloves.

Counter: The 3B market was so terrible this winter that Moustakas had to sign for scraps. I am not convinced there was a bonanza there to be had.

Typing Gabe Kapler into the twitter search is quite awesome right now. He is on pace to be the most polarizing manager of the social media era.

They can't. No team is stupid enough to take on Martin or Tulo's contracts unless they want to part with some assets to move them.

It's not the stupidest idea to lock in Donaldson long term and then wait for Bichette/Vladdy Jr to make the jump.
