I got to say, I really hate the day off after the opener. I get that they do it in case of rain, but you get so excited that baseball is back and then after the first day there's a day off and it's such a buzz kill. I realize this doesn't effect all teams, but as a White Sox fan, we are either at home or somewhere in the Midwest generally, so it's seems like they do it every year.

I wonder what the average of 100+ pitch pitchers are on opening day for other years (post 2000). It doesn't shock me all that much for day 1 because of guys still building up their endurance. Would be more jaw dropping if it was a day in July.

It's overcast now in Cincinnati now with sun forecast for this afternoon along with a chance of a shower, I think the game goes ahead.

I would be curious to see the actual data as well.

But I looked at last year. The season opened on Sunday and there were only 3 games. 3 pitchers threw 100+. Lester, Martinez and Archer.
