I think it's a reasonable gamble for fitzy to make. The cost is not going to be prohibitive for a two year tenure if that's what it comes to anyway
Agreed. With that, I'm confident he'd sign long term.

I don't think a Timo trade is meant to be a long term replacement for Bratt.

I think Fitz sees he can get a top 6 winger with elements the team needs that can potentially set us up to contend this year and in the years to come.

We are legit. There is no reason to just leave the East to Boston or Carolina.

Jack has hit super star levels so it's time to take a swing

I've said this before...

I don't really care if Meier comes with an extension or not. I believe he'll give us a discount, but if not, I truly believe we can flip him in the off-season for a significant return and recoup a lot of what we pay.

I honestly believe a lot of stupid GMs out there would pony up when they have more cap space to work with.

Oh yeah I agree. If we can keep both, then we're golden.

Vegas has the most on crack roster building philosophy I've ever seen

Fits with their city but that's Grier's last stand with leverage versus the Devils + Canes. He's not trading Meier there, that's career suicide. Vegas's pool sucks

No reason you can’t keep both if they want. Bratt isn’t going to find a better situation to resign into. Maybe he doesn’t do 7-8 but he will resign here

It’s not a replacement but more of a hedge of anything with Bratt being back and forth on negotiations

So question, regardless of the Meier situation I’m curious if everyone thinks that will be our only move or what other moves we can even afford to do?

Meier or bust. Anything else is just throwing away assets and cap space for players that aren't really going to make a difference, nor are will they be players that will be a part of any runs 2-5 years from now. And just because we can throw away cap space it doesn't mean we should. Even Timo himself might be available again this summer if we don't land him soon.

Fitz to do list:
1. Top six winger (To replace Sharangovich): Timo Meier
2. Wing/center (To replace Boqvist): Maxi Domi
3. Goalie (To replace Blackwood): James Reimer

Meier-Hughes-Bratt
Tatar-Hischier-Mercer
Palat-Huala-Domi
Wood-McLeod-Bastian

Siegenthaler-Hamilton
Graves-Marino
Smith-Severson

Vanecek-Reimer

I don’t think Fitz will get a D as they want to keep a spot open for Luke Hughes
If they want to get an upgrade for the bottom 6 like Maxi Domi, Sharangovich could be on the outer. If he is not part of San Jose trade, he could be a healthy scratch or forced to a 4th line role.

I think we will get an experienced goalie, even though Schmid is ready. They can’t rely on Blackwood. He’s play is too inconsistent and injuries issue now is a bit of a worry.
