Is it confirmed that Stützle isn't coming?

Reports in German media say, the Senators told the German officials, that he has a few minor injuries, so he needs to rest and won't be allowed to play for Germany this time.

So, basically I take this to mean that if the Sens still had games to play he could and would play, but like every player he is a bit dinged up after a long NHL season and they don't want to take any risks with him.
And while I am sad about this, I totally understand the Sens perspective.

It was also confirmed during the first break in the game against Austria today. For anyone who can read German or dares to use an online transaltor:

So playoffs in the DEL are over - means we get some much needed strengtheing of the squad.

Niederberger, Szuber, Ehlic, Eder, Hüttl should be locks and few others e.g. Varejcka (after the playoffs) may get a chance.
Add Peterka and hopefully the SHL boys and we have a competitive squad with some good players under 25. Depth is really improving just a shame "our stars" are not present.

Will Marc Michaelis be at the World Cup?

The Senators have no say in that though, basically he refused to come and let the team do the talking.

Strahlmeier and Bittner will come form the Grizzlies.
And next week there will be potentially bigger changes because of players coming from EHC München.

And Kreis hopes that maybe some north american players can come over after they are finished with their playoffs.

I don't get why Bokk and kammerer got scratched.
they are the best scorers of this season. Atleast give them the USA game.
Both performed well in the exhibition games and have gas left in the tank.

problay because they felt more "safe" with Ehliz, Peterka, Kahun, Fischbuch, Tiffels, Noebels in the top 6 and for the bottom 6 they wanted more gritty players.

Could become a hard tournament for Germany. No big support from NA, lot of declines by experienced Players, new Coach. QF would be a big surprise, hope that Relegation will not get a topic. Games vs. Austria always close, Games against Hungary and France are the last ones and may must wins...

Nico Sturm can show up in a big Role. Maybe good with Kahun & Peterka on 1 Line, could be a good fit.

QF would be a big surprise,
The thing is, who can overtake them? Everyone is just as bad or worse. Denmark is getting their lunch handed to them by Latvia. And Austria, France or Hungary making it would equal some absolute miracle run.

Yeah, this roster is good enough to go to the QF and by far good enough to have any relegation worries.

It is important that Germany is not "destroyed" in the first 3 games. That could hurt this decimated team's morale. In addition, the new coach has the charisma of "half a glass of cold coffee". 😀
