fims offense cementing that they’re soft

cant even be mad at mcdaniel imo he tried to lead with the run game like he should’ve and the chiefs just spit on it
You probably can a little bit, his playcalling in the parts I watched was... not strong.

Awful conditions but also a sign that Tua can’t be your guy going forward. He has given you those signs for a few weeks now. He’s a fine QB but not someone to commit big money to. The sooner the Dolphins can admit that, the better off they’ll be.
I think he gets one more year because the combination of there being no realistic upgrades and likely not being able to move up in the draft to take one of the big ticket QB prospects.

That and they don't have to make an actual decision until 2025 since he has one year left on his deal.

But outside of that agree. Barring a revelation next year, i don't think he's the guy long term.

It's not just the KC game. He didn't show up last week. He didn't show up against the Ravens when the #1 seed is on the line. Didn't show up in games last year. Didn't show up against the Titans in 2021 when iirc it was win and in.

Still not sure how to feel about KC.

Their defense is pretty legit. If their receivers could just catch the damn ball consistently when it hits them in the hands, it's not a hot take to say they can beat anyone including baltimore and sanfran.

Big if though.

Only the Dolphins could somehow make a fan feel like absolute crap after their best season in 15 years and what looked like the dawn of a new era.

Nope. Just looks like they're in the same spot they've been since Marino retired.

McDaniel better think long and hard about what the word adjustment means to him in the offseason and Tua better find that "heart of a winner" everyone wouldn't shut up about when he was in college.

Since the Dolphins beat the Cowboys (to "prove" they could beat a "good" team) they lost three straight and their offense scored 19, 14, and 7 points.
Miami:

Have a 1-5 record against teams over .500. 4 of those losing games were by multiple scores. The tanking Patriots have a better record.

Averaged 18 points on offense against winning teams.

Had a record setting 4th Quarter meltdown at home against a floundering Titans.

Had a massive late season meltdown that cost them a division title.

Got swept by a hated division rival, who’s QB extended a humiliating winning record against us.

They can't beat good teams. Can't complain about sample size now.

I didn't realize it was this bad. That's... not ideal.

Miami is hot garbage. I know their defense is banged up but that’s not why they lost to an extremely average Chiefs team that was still fumbling passes left and right and taking O-line penalties like it’s going out of style. The “McDaniel is a wunderkind” tag is gonna wear off really quickly unless they make some personnel changes. The NFL is not a forgiving league and you can go from the next big thing to out of a job in the blink of an eye.

The Chiefs are my team but their inability all year to convert drives into touchdowns is going to kill them next week against the Bills. They have a complete lack of killer instinct and swagger this year. They were fortunate the cold weather Fins were cooked before they even stepped on the field. I have an alarming lack of trust in Reid’s play calling and Mahomes’ ability to turn to anybody but Rice on this receiving corp on a critical third down. And the O-line continues to be among the most penalized in NFL history. Its like Patty is having to play Madden on insane difficulty and when he knows a play is breaking down he just gives up at this point instead of trying to buy time and let a receiver create something.

I really can’t stand the crying about how the reffs made a mistake against the Chiefs during regular season when time after time they get soft calls called for their benefit.

But reffs make one mistake against them and we hear for a month how they were robbed.

I’m so sick and tired of someone being even close go Mahomes and it’s roughing the passer

I decided to crunch some numbers since i'm bored waiting for the next set of games. The knock on Tua is he's trash against teams that are actually good. I do recall him being pretty bad in some of those cases but not all of them. So i decided to do some digging and see just how bad exactly.

Tua against teams above 500;

2020

- week 7 LA: 12/22, 93 yards, 1 INT (W)
- week 8 Arizona: 20/28, 248 yards, 2 TD (W)
- Week 13 KC: 28/48, 316 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT (L)
- Week 17 Buffalo: 35/58, 361 yards 1 TD, 3 INT (L)

2020 total stats

2-2, 1,018 yards 5 TD, 5 INT, 95/156, 6.5 YPA

2021

- Week 8 Buffalo: 21/39, 205 yards, 1 INT (L)
- Week 10 Baltimore 8/13, 158 yards (W)
- week 16 Titans; 18/38, 205 yards, 1 INT (L)
- Week 17 patriots: 15/22, 109 yards, 1 TD (W)

2021 total stats

2-2, 677 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 62/112, 6.0 YPA

2022

- Week 2 baltimore: 36/50, 469 yards, 6 TD, 2 INT (W)
- week 3 Buffalo: 13/18, 186 yards, 1 TD (W)
- week 13 San Francisco: 18/33, 295 yards, 2 TD/2 INT (L)
- week 15 Buffalo: 17/30, 234 yards, 2 TD (L)

2022 total stats

2-2, 1095 yards, 11 TD/4 INT, 84/131, 9.0 YPA

2023:
- Week 4 Buffalo: 23/35, 282 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT (L)
- Week 7 Philly: 23/32, 216 yards, 1 TD, I INT (L)
- Week 9 Kansas City: 21/34 193 yards, 1 TD (L)
- Week 16 Dallas: 24/37, 293 yards, 1 TD (W)
- Week 17 Baltimore: 22/38, 237 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT (L)
- Week 18 Buffalo: 17/27, 173 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT (L)
- Wild card round: 20/39, 199 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT (L)

2023 total stats:

1-6, 1,593 yards, 8 TD/7 INT, 150/242, 6.5 YPA

total stats: 19 GS, 7-12 W/L, 23 TD/18 INT, 6.8 YPA

Tua against everyone else: (either below or at 500)

2020: 6-1, 787 yards, 91/132, 5 TD/1 INT, 5.9 YPA
2021: 6-3, 1976 yards, 201/276, 15 TD/8 INT, 7.1 YPA
2022: 6-5, 2364 yards, 175/269, 14/4 INT, 8.7 YPA
2023: 10-1, 3230 yards, 256/357, 22 TD/8 INT, 9.0 YPA

Tua against teams above 500: 19 GS, 7-12 W/L, 25 TD/18 INT, 6.8 YPA
Tua against teams at 500 or below: 37 GS, 28-9, 56 TD/21 INT, 8.0 YPA

Over a full season's worth of data shows that yeah, Tua kinda does suck against good teams. Also worth noting that on the above 500 side the shootout he had in Baltimore last year is actually kinda inflating those numbers given he went off for 500 yards and 6 TDs. Take that game away suddenly it's a 19/16 TD to INT ratio.

He's literally the Polynesian Kirk Cousins and that angers me.

He's also Polynesian Jimmy G. Close up the middle. Tua wilts.
