The ugly afternoon for the Phillies concludes with 13 runs allowed. They and the Brewers now have the same record again.

Looking at the radar, there may very well be a window to get tonight's game in.

such a weird franchise

had no idea about the most 100 loss seasons, but not surprising considering the state of the franchise post-connie mack and prior to the move to KC
Those 100-loss seasons haven’t happened often in Oakland. This was the first one in 43 years.

If we had ownership worth a shit they wouldn’t be in last this season.

This is the A’s second 100 lose season in Oakland.

By comparison, they had 4 - 100 lose seasons in Kansas City and 11 - 100 lose seasons in Philadelphia.

They had 2 dynasty like runs in Philadelphia and Oakland.

Phillies jump out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd. The sooner they can get that game to official game status with the lead, the better considering the weather situation.

Edit: Now 4-0 Phils and the Brewers trail 2-0 early.

Jim Kaat - Hall of Fame: Inducted as Player in 2022. (Voted by Golden Days Era Committee). 3x AS, 1 WS, 108 ERA+, 3.45 ERA, 1.259 WHIP.

283 Ws
, but idk he should be in the HoF.

I'm not big on Kaat as a player alone. As a general rule, I try to view HOF cases as the sum total of a person's total contributions, and Kaat has a lot of broadcasting to add to his resume, so he's not an entirely egregious choice, but I still am not a big fan - lots of bulk, but not a lot of greatness as a pitcher.

Olson adds some insurance.

deGrom and Scherzer came up small in these 2 games for the Mets.

2-2 in Milwaukee in a game MIL has to have with the inevitable PHI win.

Jansen closes it out and it sets the stage for a possibly epic Sunday night game with massive stakes:

Braves win = They go 2 games up AND would own the tie-breaker. With 3 games @ MIA, who aren't starting Alcantara, the division crown will be all but a lock.

Mets win = They would own the tie-breaker and control their destiny heading into the final 3 games at home vs WSH.

And Brewers fans are back hating the Josh Hader trade, Marlins score twice in the 9th to take a 4-3 lead against Williams.

Cronenworth with a 2 run bomb against Cease to give SD a 3-1 lead.

Brewers lose. A numbing, devastating loss for them. They now need 2 more wins than the Phillies in the final 4 games of the season.

Phillies up 4-0 as that game enters a rain delay in the 4th. Brewers playoff hopes hanging by 1 or 2 threads.

Edit: Rain delay already over (or ESPN screwed up).

The Phillies are up 7-0. Patrick Corbin is probably the worst starter in the majors. I dont think they will play 9. The game is official as it is pouring in DC.

Jays winning bottom of the 8th. I don't want to jinx it but if they hold on for the win and the Rays lose today, good chances they'll have top wildcard spot and home field.

More good news for Philly as the Marlins somehow keep doing it, they are up 2-0 in Milwaukee.

The Marlins and playing spoiler to ruin team's dreams late in the season is an iconic duo.

The Jays should be way more worried about the Mariners and their ridiculously easy schedule. Just 1 game back in loss column and Mariners have tie-breaker.
